Was also thinking that. Would still draft a tackle in the first. Move Peters to guard

Agent talking to media; agent not talking to client.
On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, how pissed is he?

I think there is a younger guy from KC who is on the rise and FA and Doug would know well. I'd prefer that unless Jahri is really still a good player and they just can't afford him. Generally speaaking, stud players are not let go if they are still studs. Luv to have had all the Philly guys in their primes, Matt Ryan, Marvin Harrison, Jahri Evans - but it rarely works out like that. Vinny Curry is rare and man - he just got paid before he's proven much. Kind of a Derrick Burgess in Oakland deal.

Sounds like Saints fans think he can still play and he graded out as #27 in the league, so it would come down to the cash

I guess Gardner will be knocking around again too

Agent talking to media; agent not talking to client.

Agent intern: He's your coffee boss
Agent: It better be hot this time
Agent intern: It is, I scolded myself to check
Agent: Good boy. Now, I need you to answer all my emails from those idiot Eagles reporters
Agent intern: Me? I have no idea what to say
Agent: Say anything you want. Just make sure it says, "close" and over $50 million guaranteed
Agent intern: But you haven't even called Mr. Roseman back and we said the same exact thing to the Eagles reporters last week
Agent: Fine, also add "massive contract" to the email and make up the rest
Agent intern: "Dear Mr. McLane...."

if you want WIP in your eyeballs, that click is for you

His conclusion is probably right - but not for the reasons he sites. This narrative about Howie and his ego and power hunger -- Jeff Lurie wants to win a SB very badly. He's an established owner now - respected - rich. He has a young pretty wife. The only thing he lacks, is SB Lombardi trophy and a parade down broad street. These ridiculous clowns like Cataldi make up a narrative - throw sh** on the wall to see what sticks. Because they are on the air every day they can keep thrown more and more sh** til suddenly people just assume these wild assertions are in fact 'true'.

I'm no defender of Howie Roseman. But to say that he toppled Joe Banner, is to act like Jeff Lurie is a moron who can't see through a thin veil? As if he hasn't had frank conversations for decades w Banner and doesn't know Roseman's entire career since it all occured at NovaCare. If Howie is in charge and making moves, it's being done with Lurie's approval and endorsement. Howie is there and empowered because that is who Lurie wants and Lurie wants a SB so he's not going to allow Howie to oust Bradford if Bradford is the best chance for a SB, just because Sam was "Chip's guy". Absurd. Not clear Sam ever was "Chip's guy" as he may have been a piece to get Mariota and it backfired on the naaive Chip ??

Pederson has changed his remarks but not because Bradford isn't the ideal fit for his brand of WCO, but because Bradford is pricing himself up with the elite top 10-12 QBs in the league. The narrative from fans and management is - "Sam, you flashed a bit of solid play in the last 6 games but you have otherwise been undistinguished in your career, no playoff wins, no monster numbers - and two devastating knee injuries - be reasonable and make a name for yourself with our new regime - your boy is RB - we can pad it with incentives - stay on the field and produce and you will be well paid". The agent says "#1 pick pedigree - unlucky in past w injuries but now healthy - he proved it by taking major hits. Unforutne of many changes in coaches and systems and now once again he learns Chip's thing and has to learn Dougs. There is a shortage of 28 year old QBs with proven ability and high passing % didn't we just break your franchise mark - and we can go to Houston, Denver, Jets and some other teams that see what we bring to table"

Bradford wants to get paid like Stafford and Ryan and Flacco and Rivers. One of those has a ring.

If Foles is a real thing - and Bradford is really done - it's about the cost-risk-benefit not about Howie's ego. But that's not as interesting as flinging mud/sh** on the wall and being hysterical for weeks on air about it.

It's amazing - they run these narratives - Chip is great, Chip is a fraud, they drove Chip out and within a week - they also start saying "now what?" We hate Pederson we can't get a good coach. Chip won 10 games. They are ratings whores. Nothing more. Sadly, they influence a lot of Eagle nation.

You guys ask why do I listen to any of it - because I live across the country and for a long time it was really hard to get a feel for the tone of things back home. It's been hard to be a 4 for 4 sports guy from Phila. and live in Calif. - I work from home. I have a lot of times of day when I just need something I don't need to concentrate on, that isn't political or music - and it's there. I get some news -- I hear some interviews - and you all know I'm a bit of a nostalgic type - so when they bring up games, players, situations from the past - have people call in with their top 10 this or favorite guy from that - I enjoy that stuff because a lot of guys call in who are in my age range and remember stuff I grew up on. I can't get that locally out here.

I toggle between all of them. THere is no 1 guy I'm 100% good with except perhaps Jody Mac - as he doesn't get in to hyperbole. Glen Macnow is pompous and full of himself - and now feels validated being paired with Ray. Ray means well and love his background stories and NFL film references - memories of NFL in the 60's - but he has very little to add to the current analysis and is rarely right about anything. He's not a jerk at least and is a true homegrown.

Cataldi is a clown. He's old now humbled with some illness - his crew is getting old and they've toned some of it down. He occasionally drops the shtick and tries to be a good interviewer - but he doesn't really know much about sports.

Eskin - mostly retired from the mic - never knew much about the game - very arrogant and because he hung around felt like he had inside knowledge - he's broek a story here and there - but he too was a clown and espoused lots of outrageous stuff. Mikey Miss - another Philly guy who back in the day with Steve Fredericks a verteran of talk radio and solid old Philly guy - he was more humble. He has his thing too. Arrogant. He's actually more educated in some regards than many of the rest of them - but he says a lot of ridiculous stuff and has tirades as well.

The Cuzz is a fun loving local. He's harmless. Entertaining. Ike and Mike don't take themselves too seriously but even Ike goes off some times on some stuff and is outrageous and Barkin who is clever - doesn't know much sports and just blows with the wind but he can be funny here n there. Rob Ellis annoys me in his personality but he's not entirely an idiot and paired now with Harry - is that his name? - they aren't too bad.

I can take all of them in very limited doses. G Cobb, Paul Jolly - I hate Rob Charry - who is wrong about Ealges and Roob is so freakn negative but he does know stuff about Birds -- and has the data at the tip of his brain. Hadad and some of the new guys aren't bringing me any value. Josh Innes is an utter clown. He's a Cataldi of sorts - an outrageous guy who does a shtick for a radio career. He knows he may not last long in Phila. and is just building himself up maybe wants to go to LA or NY markets if he can - or ride the wave here if it works out. Some of the stuff he says is so over the top - and he's not really a nice guy to his callers. That's a hard road long term. He's coopted Tank as his side-kick trying to get cred from that -and Tank has lost his way. He used to be a reasonable guy now he's just a buffoon too. Big Daddy Graham in the middle of the night - he's old and his thing is very dated now. His notion of what's going on is pointless.

I think there are a lot of well reasoned, intelligent guys with a good voice for radio that would be great on-air if they all didn't think they had to be outrageous and have a "style" of some sort. The fans will listen to whomever is on there because they are desperate to talk about the team and hear about the team. Management can influence a lot the type of station it's going to be. The fact that the 3 big guys on WPEN are the old WIP guys - just shows its the same old same old.

It's just like the local media - it's been a long time since we had great sports columnists en masse. The Stan Hochmans and Bill Lyons and even the pedofile -- some others.

But looks to me - that he was right merely about Bradford not coming back. Whenever their is competition - the bids go up. Bradford - if no one wanted him, if Chip was still here and he didn't have to learn a new coach and system - but at this point, staying in Phila. is no better than going to Houston or Denver or Jets -- he has to start over.

QBs

NFC

Minn - Bridgewater
GB - Rogers
Det - Stafford ?? is he staying there?
Chic - Cutler ?? is he staying there?
TB - Winston
Car - Cam
NO - Brees
Atl - Ryan
Dal - Romo
Wash - Cousins
NYG - Eli
Sea - Wilson
Ariz - Palmer
SF - Kaepernick? other?
Stl - ????
Phila. - ???

AFC

Cin - Dalton
Pitt - Rothlisberger
Batl - Flacco
Indy - Luck
Ten - Mariota
Jack - Bortles
NE - Brady
Jets - Fitz ??
Mia- Tannehill
Buff - Taylor
KC - Smith
Oak - Carr
SD - Rivers
Browns ??
Houston ??

So really - when it comes down to it --

Browns - draft Goff
Houston Phila and ironically - Stl. -- would be the market for Bradford. Now, I doubt seriously St Louis is going back to Bradford. They want to draft someone to be the face of the franchise in Los Angeles.

In theory - the only team drafting ahead of the Birds that is for-sure going QB is Cleveland at #2. The Rams and Houston draft after us.

The question is - what of the other 10 teams between Cleveland and Phila.'s pick at #13 - would take one of the top 3-4 QBs as an investment in the future to groom behind and aging or faltering starter?

That's why I'd like to see RGIII end up in Dal to take them out of play. Would NYG take Wentz to groom behind Eli? SD? Niners? Saints? Bears?

It is in fact possible that one of Lynch or Wentz is available at #13 - are either worth it? And if that's the play - you keep Sanchize and get Foles back maybe is the plan afterall?

Highly unlikely the Giants or Saints take a QB before us (both need defense badly), but you can't rule it out completely. San Fran is still a possibility if they move on from Kaep, but what looked like a sure thing before CHiP isn't so clear now. Dallas seems to be committed to Romo until he's 50 and broken and won't groom anyone behind him. The Chargers are committed to Rivers for a few more years and will look elsewhere. At least one QB should be available at #13

Getting a little tired of the "were close on a Fletcher Cox extension"...."no, we're not" back and forth. "close" really isn't a reportable status. Theres only deal or no deal. Everything else is nonsense.

Interesting interview on Rob Elllis just now - Andrew Brantt i think ?

Said the blunder w Bradford was not extending him as a provision of the deal last year. That the leverage was with the Birds then, and now the leverage is with him. Suspects they have already made offers to Sam and he's not interested in those offers.

On Cox, sure they are offering a lot of cash - but his agent may be telling him that if he goes the Suh route - he can get way more in FA next year. Everyone loves Fletcher and wants him to be a staple of the franchise for years to come - but JJ Watt took an earlier deal and gets less than Suh, and so its up to FC to go the Watt or the Suh route. I'm mentally preparing for no deal with FC and losing him in FA following year.

I'm also prepared for them to just let Bradford go as well.

My personal belief in why they didn't extend Bradford is that he was a chip for CHIP to get to Mariota that badly backfired.

there was no reason to extend Bradford coming off his injuries. trading the extra 2nd rnd pick was the sign of a longer term gamble, a risk i thought was worth taking. things don't always work out though

Completely agree. Extending the contract there was an unnecessary risk
