Take your PEDs - Eagles - off-seasoning

the buying time thing just doesn't seem logical. howie doesn't need time, really. If he's what everyone says he is, he's fine. But in spite of that, everybody there wants to win. Bradford isn't old, they can still have that Reid 5 year plan while keeping Bradford, rather than drafting an unknown and hopping he's the starter by Year 3.

Right. Or even hedge your bet by franchising Brat and drafting a third-round type or bringing in Daniel, etc.

Brat's salary doesn't really matter in that scenario, since the alternative is to basically punt 2016/17, in which case you wouldn't have anything better to spend it on.

I think the argument to make there is to sure up the other major areas of deficiency with that money - primarily OL and the defensive backfield and look to really contend in 2018. I don't like the franchise option for Bradford. Not sure what it does. It's either Bradford long term (and hopefully at a reasonable rate to have money on other areas) or use that money in other areas, imo, and find a QB this year or next.

I can't see the fans being willing to wait for five years for anyone's plan. If the Birds don't make the POs next season, the heat is going to be on Lurie and Roseman. Another bad season, like this one, and there will be empty seats and fans wearing bags on their heads at games. The media will be right there leading the charge.

I'm not saying it's the right thing to do OR that it's going to work out. But you know damn well they're in the mindset of Doug being Andy 2.0

You're right about that and its a problem.
heyeaglefn wrote:That's what I think as well. If Pederson says Bradford is his guy and they break the bank on a contract for him, they are going to have immediate expectations versus bringing in his guy through the draft and gaining more time to build the team he wants.

I don't think that Roseman wants to re-sign Bradford. Roseman wants Kelly's legacy to be all dirt. Bradford is Chip's guy. Keeping him would mean that Chip did make some wise personnel moves. Thats not happening.

I hear you on that, just think it's a real crapshoot to land the right QB for that 2018 contention.

What franchising Bradford does is maximize your chances for 2016 and provide more information on whether he's the long-term answer.

yeah, i just don't think we are "contenders" as presently constructed and that money to Bradford (north of $20 mil) precludes money going elsewhere to help Bradford - maybe a stretch the field WR, better guards...etc. I think we would be out in FA but I don't really get the salary cap situation so maybe not. In short, I was not a Bradford fan in Chips scheme, however, he really showed me something in the latter half (and chip's gone) and think we can win with him but he needs the support around him that is not presently here.

I hear ya, it's a tough call. And it's certainly possible Howie will slag the Brat because of Chip stink. Hard to say from his approach thus far, other than maybe Celek being more of a "win-now" move (ie, could have saved $5M)

i think starting with a guy you think you know in Bradford, and using money on more inexpensive positions like Guard is the way to go, rather than hoping you can spend Brat's money on positions and then also hoping you get your QB

I don't think Bradford's salary matters WRT free agency, this year or in future. There aren't any sure things to help the OL via free agent market either. Whoever is the QB, we just have to hope the scheme and coaching stabilize things.

flipped it on but missed most of it. said the raiders, seahawks and cowboys could be landing spots with a reworked deal.

If it were up to me, both Murray and Bradford would be gone.

It's just a matter of replacing them, which won't be easy especially at RB.

Murray's production is much easier to replace, both short and long term

Seems pretty flimsy to me. I could see him wanting to go, but if he's worth a lot to Seattle or Dallas, why isn't he worth a lot here?

if he's really in charge of cycling backs, he didn't seem to be a huge fan

I mean, if I've got defenders crashing on running backs before they even have the ball, I would go with the shiftier guys too. But that shouldn't be the case next year.

Whats the incentive for Murrary to rework his deal? Wouldn't getting released and signing a new deal be the best case for him?
