If that's true, I stand corrected, but for me that thing has Big Reid written all over it.

“Obviously the evaluation of the player wasn’t right for where we drafted him. If there was one good part to come about the Danny Watkins pick, it was that we went from a team that felt like we were really close to winning a championship and maybe going into a draft and saying we have to get a particular position, to a team now that drafts the best available player,” Roseman said on his 94WIP show on Tuesday. “Obviously, there were things we liked about Danny Watkins. I’m telling you on the evaluation I was wrong. I thought he was going to be a good player in this league. We learned a lot from it, and I think that was kind of the tipping point for us, in terms of how we were going to do things. It’s something I strongly believe in, so disappointed that didn’t work out with that player, but at the same time I think we learned a lot from it.”

I do recognize some guilt by association and wouldn't have complained if they cleaned house

But I honestly think it's highly circumstantial, with one powerful coach grasping at straws on the back half of his tenure and another overreaching too soon into his

Oy the signal to noize with Eagle Nation is becoming unbearable. But I can't "look away".

First, the fans want Reid's head on a stick. Then they want to be wowed with an exciting hire and get such a guy. Then, the guy surprises everyone and makes Nick Foles look like Peyton Manning, and Shady and Desean have their best years. Goes to playoffs and if the D and ST were a tad better, maybe wins and loses a close one.

Despite Foles being an abberation and Sanchiez inadequate - he gets the team the following year with a tougher schedule to 9-3 with a very satisfying win on Thanksgiving for the home fans against the most hated rival.

From there, things begin to disappoint. A series of political issues at Novacare and some emotionally gut-wrenching moves for the fans. Things look wobbly in year 3 and suddenly - there is mass hysteria, the moutbreathing media, and fans now want to Tar & Feather Chip, he's in imposter, he didn't deserve control, he ruined the franchise, set it back 5 years - he should have gotten Mariota, he gave away all our players, he shouldn't have drafted a corner but rather a G, Agholor is a bust they have no receivers, it's all ruined forever. Get me Cowher get me Gruden.

Now the fans, with not actula knowedge of what it takes to run an NFL club, all the roles involved, and with no actual information or proof of anything, begin to talk about Howie the weasel, he's a legal dude, doesn't know the game - has not pedigree - no acumen. He's back in charge. First it's ding dong the Chip is dead - and then suddenly, it's "hey, you better get me someone special - I want a "real coach", mr lurie".

Then, they find out that there are no "real coaches". Sean Payton is not free or interested. All there are, is this years crop of aspiring assistants or flame outs that are back to assistants.

Now it's Lurie is a joke, HOwie is ruinous - and suddenly the fans are butt-hurt because everyone isn't clamoring to come to Phila. - theories abound and after being repeated 1000 times are spoken of as fact.

When SF finally hires Chip, remorse sets in as a lot of the fans realize that the rest of the league didn't quite see Chip the way they did, and he only had one off year 7-9 is not 2-14 btw, and the talent is not that bad. As candidates reject or go elswhere - there is once again a demand for something unrealistic and unreasomable.

Assumptions abound about what they are doing to mess it up. The hostile working conditions. The power control. The fans of course, know nothing abotu the other 31 franchises and who is in charge there, what internal issues they have, how those owners behave - or what it's like to be fan of hte Lions or Browns or Dolphins or Rams --

We all know Pederson wasn't their first choice. If he was, they'd have interviewed him first, laid the groundwork and likely not gotten involved with Coughlin at all. I could see them interviewing Duce and Shurmur as a courtesy Rooney rule,, etc... and Gase maybe just ot check him out - but if Pederson was their #1 target the word would have gotten out and surely Coughlin coesn't come in to play and Hue isn't called at the laat minute.

So now, the fans feel they are getting some milk toast no crediility guy - that is the bottom of the barrel. That its a return to Andy-dom and we're just getting an understudy. Suddenly sexy Chip looks a lot better and suddenly the %% in polls about should have kept CHip, belie the earlier mob mentality to drive him out of dodge. Now people are just pissed off and everything is ruined forever.

Geezus. What a f'n cluster F.

Nobody knows what Pederson is capable of. We're gonna find out. Just because no one else was looking at him, doesn't matter. The Birds have a unique vantage and it doesn't martter whether he called plays. He has not designed an offense perhaps at the level of Gase or McAdoo - but he's been in the NFL for 20 years except his little time as a high school coach. He has played and coached. He's not some outsider, amatuer. He's got as much pedigree as 100's of other guys who have gotten gigs. Maybe he will do well, maybe won't. No one knows.

It will also come down to his staff, and the players he gets to work with. Does he get a QB.

People are some times given opportunitnes and they thrive once given. Andy did. Maybe Pederson will, maybe he won't.

I don't know what Eagle Nation expected???

You can't have it both ways. You can't want someone with that something extra quality - (Chip) and not be patient. Let him make mistakes and learn. And then want someone solid, but then complain it isn't sexy or a for-sure thing.

No coach in the history of the NFL in the 50 years of the Super Bowl, has ever won a SB with a team and then won another with a different team. That rules out Gruden and Cowher who may be useless anyway at this stage. And Shanahan and all the rest. Even Payton was a long shot.

If Pederson is poised to become a leader of men - and has enough football acumen - and surrounds himself with solid people and gets solid support form the org, he should be at LEAST be able to duplicate Ray Rhodes and Rich Kotite level of success.

I'm not excited about him. But I surely can't call him a guy with no right to get the chance. Nor do I see anyone else out there any better that was clamoring to come here.

Wow.

Pretty much.

Jaws and Polian advised the coaching search, per reports. Guess they, too, are not Football Guy enough for Roob.

i mean, if you can't tell the difference between Ron Jaworski himself saying he helped the search, and Roob just throwing out "sources" as proof, well..

It's not like the fans ran Chip out of town. People were bummed about the season, yea, but I don't think there was a clamoring for Chip to get fired. He was just an asshole.

you're going off the rails. You made light of Grote's post bc the media said something. I pointed out it's different than believing an unnamed source bc Jaws actually said he was involved, it wasn't a rumor. How you got to where you are now, i don't even know

On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, how pissed is he?
