So wait, it was bad for both teams?

Inciarte and Blair are in the majors. Kinda stinky. Dansby Swanson is in AA and is a top prospect. Good trade for the Braves depending on Swanson being good.

He's supposed to have great makeup. Especially the lipstick and blush.

Inciarte is an elite defender. And you (might) need those.

Good point.

Great defenders have value. But he's a really stinky hitter.

It's so gratifying when you've thought of someone in a certain way for years after observing from far outside, and then they sit down and explain themselves in their own words and you finally realize they were just as big a jerk as you thought they were.

I don't know, swish. I don't think he's a jerk, I think he sees the world based on the world in which he was raised. And he's not wrong about the relationship between owners and players for the most part, especially marginal players. He looked out after himself, first, last, and always, but you catch a little bit of his humanity in how he talks about Charles Johnson and Jason Grilli.

I'm not like him, but I think I understand why he is the way he is. I wouldn't call him a jerk.

Jerk oversimplifies things. And yes there are some explanations for his feelings as he does. But even in relating the incident when he was 12 years old it's clear he mishandled that from start to finish, but there's no recognition or acknowledgement of that even thirty years later , when he 's had a wealth of opportunity to grow, to mature and to experience many other ways of dealing with life. Other people have managed to do that despite similar or worse circumstances. So, maybe sad is a better term than jerk. I have a great deal of sympathy for the child Gary Sheffield, but not a huge amount for the man.

Have to say I admire the way he handled the trade to LA.

Jose Altuve has turned into a complete monster. Been very good for a few years now but now he is just unreal.

True that. It's not really a "but", but I hadn't realized until looking at his stats that his 38 SB last year were the lowest total to lead the AL since 1962.

He's the best player in the league right now when you factor position, no?

Not as long as Trout is alive. Guy is so good we sometimes forget about him. Has a lot of WARs too.
