I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up coaching. Wouldn't have expected that but he helped a lot of Pirates pitchers too.

It's a harsh condemnation of Rich Dubee that the pitchers have to learn new pitches from each other rather than the PC. The last PC that the Phillies had that was a real teacher had to be Johnny Podres. With all of the young arms that are in this system that are going to need someone like JP. McClure isn't that.

I think that's very common, so no condemnation at all.

That's true. One damn pitching coach can only do so much. Maybe help a few guys. Johnny Sain is the only guy I've ever read about who was consistently good with helping entire staffs. And he always fought with managers and never stayed in one place for long.

There are most likely some pitching coaches who do more harm than good.

It seems like for many years, the pitching coaches' main job was to be the manager's drinking buddy.

That page is funny, It talks about how thin the system is but there's 6 or 7 quality major leaguers on there. Grading prospects is hard.
