Yeh, it sure looks like they are deliberately tanking. They seemed like they went out of their way to get worse. It's very different from what the Phillies did.

Combine this with the shadiness of their stadium deal and a few other things and it seems like they are really screwing over the city of Atlanta, not that I mind much. I just hope they get called out on it.

Harrelson >>> McCarthy. Genuine excitement for team he actually roots for.

Cubs +67 run differential already LOL

Can't wait for 8th inning meltdown in game 6 of NLCS.

And yet: 10 more runs than the Phillies.

Yeah. He writes to impress, not to communicate. I'm not impressed. I taught writing and he breaks every rule in my book. Yes, did write a book. It was the Army. We could do anything back then.

I don't know, I love this article tbh.

I wrote this when I'd read about 2/3 of it. I thought it was going somewhere. I loved where it was going. Then it took a turn into off-road trail-making of some kind. Then it disappeared.

Ah well.

Scouting report on the Braves: they're stinky.

at the end of fangraphs always pretty cool "sunday notes" column of this week (which also features a review of appels's last start) is this stupifyingly and awesomely weird pedro autobiography excerpt:

According to Pedro, Manny Ramirez once came up to his locker and put on his socks and underwear. He then went over to David Ortiz’s locker and put on his undershirt. Ramirez’s reason? He told Pedro that he had three little midgets in his head and they needed different clothes to wear.

“That’s the way Manny would pass his time,” wrote Pedro. “That’s how he clipped his flowers.”

start counting the different ways this is weird beyond words. i get to at least 5.

i think i'm going to have to order the book. and i have a new signature.

According to Yahoo's Jeff Passan, the Braves have tried to trade Hector Olivera since his arrest for assault and battery earlier this month in Arlington, Virginia.
Olivera was taken into custody April 13 outside the Braves' team hotel in Arlington -- a suburb of Washington, D.C. -- after a woman called 911 alleging that she had been assaulted by the 31-year-old Cuban outfielder. He's on administrative leave and a suspension is likely coming under MLB's new domestic violence initiative even if the misdemeanor is dropped. As for the trade inquiries, one opposing executive told Passan that he "can't believe they even asked."
