I thought I posted it here, but my early season thought that no one on the phils would crack 25 HRs is probably going to be false if Byrd isn't moved. Only Howard and Rollins have double digits past him. Chase has 8. We're bad.

Jimmy Rollins has 13hrs... he also leads the team in walks.

Not a single starter, or significant bench player is OPS .800 or higher ...

If Howard was just in-decline, not fall off the cliff, then in theory -- Chase, JRoll, RyHo, Byrd and Chooch - would represent the ultimate in veteranosity that IFFFF -- we had 3 very exciting young players (say Asche was more like a Buster Posey, and Dom Brown was more like a Vlad Guerrero, and Revere was more like a young Dykstra -- ) then you could live with older sub-.800 veterans.

But Howard isn't 22-24hrs and 75-80 rbi with a .250 avg, and OPS .832

And the LF, CF, RF are not close to being the next group of young studs to carry it.

i wonder if rube had a scenario like this in mind when building the current team.

There's probably a good chance that the new GM's gonna want his own guy in the dugout.

headin' out to the game tonight. sitting literally right next to the camera next to the right field foul pole. if a phillie hits a ball that may be close I don't know whether to block the camera or not. Or if the other team hits one like that either. Could go either way I guess. I have no idea who we're playing either. Or whether the tickets are.

For those asking: Franzke and L.A. taking vacation from one another. Jim Jackson does PBP this weekend. Marlon Anderson does color in NY.

Still taking me some time to adjust to new standards of hitting. Byrd is 26th in OPS among qualified players, and that number will most likely go down. In 2008 there were 59 players who finished the season at .800 or above.

Guess who has an .800 ops. Delmon Young. Thanks, Amaro.

He did go to Cooperstown because his former broadcast partner got inducted. I think that was just for a day or two.
