Yeah, I don't care much for the pick either. He wasn't particularly great at FSU. Solid, but his stuff didn't dazzle me last year when I saw him pitch.

his freshman stats were pretty great. friday starter as a true freshman. he's a soft tosser but if we can get a 5th starter from a 6th round pick, that's pretty good value

Aye, they love their college picks.
Alabama State hasn't had a player drafted since 2002, and none of the six Hornets selected have been taken before the 24th round. That will change this June, when Marrero's defensive prowess should make him a second-day pick in a Draft light on legitimate shortstops. The 2014 Southwestern Athletic Conference player of the year, Marrero has all the tools to play shortstop in the big leagues. He has smooth actions, quick hands and a strong, accurate arm. Though his pure speed doesn't grade as better than average, he still offers plenty of range at shortstop. The Puerto Rican-born Marrero stands out much more in the field at the plate. He's a switch-hitter who's better as a right-hander, though he'll need to tone down his approach to hit for a decent average. He won't provide much power and probably will fit toward the bottom of a lineup.

Easy to make fun of the Phillies -- kind of fun, too -- but they're having another great draft.

And yes, I said another. They did very well last year, to

@MJ_Baumann I liked that pick though, Marrero is the best collegiate defensive shortstop in the class.
