hadn't really been following the rest of the MLB team this year but browsed stats today. Some random shit:

Melancon and Grilli have a combined 98 Ks, 11 BBs and 2 HRA in 72 IP. I lack context but I find it hard to imagine a setup/closer combo being more productive on a per inning basis in a recent season

Blue Jays' qualified starting pitcher with the lowest ERA is Buehrle. At 4.60. Chien Ming WANG may be their best starter (has been really good in 3 starts, back to 65% Gb rate). Dickey fucking blows, Mets played that right

Tigers' starting rotation, in aggregate, has a 9.37 K/9, 4.27 K/BB, 2.82 FIP and 3.01 xFIP. Holy shit. Tigers and Cardinals are head and shoulders above any other teams right now IMO. I guess throw Rangers in that group too

For comparison, Twins starters have 5.94 K/P

You know what needs to fucking end - walk off celebrations for ho hum wins. especially last night. act like you've fucking done it before. it's a bases loaded single to win a game in June for god sakes. not game 7 of the world series. I'm sick of this shit. Even when the phillies do it- like the Frandsen walk off the other day. They had blown a 6-1 lead. Have some class.

so a lot of people figured the braves were in trouble when half their bullpen got the tj surgery....but WTF is Luis Avilan, Anthony Varvaro, and Cory Gearrin?!!? And how come the Braves can pull these guys out their ass and the phillies can't even pull ONE reliable reliever out of theirs?

And no more goddamn pies to the face. WINNING ORGANIZATIONS LIKE THE YANKEES don't do that shit.

/2009 arguments

Every win counts the same in the regular season. I see no reason why these guys shouldn't enjoy winning.

The same way we pulled a winning bullpen out of our ass in 2008 with a bunch of relievers who weren't good before or haven't been good since. Sometimes it just clicks.

Braves are putting the 'fun' in fungible!
they were a chick hanging out with her friends at a bar, the Phillies would be the 320 lb chick with a nose wart and a dick - Trent Steele

Leo Mazzone is a genius.

Bryce Harper had a rehab assignment in A ball and he was still the youngest person in the lineup.

Some seem to do this every time there's a walkoff win. I don't get why they want the winning team to act like it's boring. Walk off wins are fun; it's a game.
If it was classless to celebrate somewhat meaningless walkoff wins, fans of shit teams like the Royals would never get to have a fun win ever.
