I honestly don't want Amaro in a bidding war against 14 other teams for a reliever who:
- is injured now
- won't witch until after the all-star break
- turns 30 before then
If it were truly a "flier" thing, I'd love to have him. But Rube will have 2 years guaranteed, and at least one option year.
That seems like a reasonable structure for a contract for Bailey, there is some probability that you get nothing from him this year, even if he comes back from shoulder surgery, so really next year is the "prove it" year and if he does, a reasonable option would be a great play. Of course it all depends on the dollars of it if it is a smart deal or just a ton of money at a guy who may never pitch again.
