Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 23m
The Phillies have indicated to other teams they are ready and willing to talk about Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels in trades

All Amaro can do at this point is make his successor's job harder.

Probably more likely we'll end up with one of Rube's: "We tried to get a couple of things done, but nothing came together."

Lee, I could believe. Hamels makes no sense at all.

feel like these things just grow organically. maybe they are trying to get rid of pap, and then that turns writers into thinking they're trying to cut contracts and they want to be right first and BAM

I hope we trade both of them...my anger is slowly turning to apathy and the sheer nuclear reaction that will ensue if this were to go down would be epic...really at this point anything to illicit a mob to tar and feather Rube on Broad Street would suffice

Jesus. That's.... dumb. Just PAY MONEY to whomever takes Papelbon, if that's what you need to do, and you're bent on moving him.

That's Rube. It just is. Honestly, I am now convinced his entire existence is to punk this board.

Its weird but I think I am now convinced that the Phillies are the worst run franchise in town.

This franchise implodes if Hamels goes. No way can he be traded now. Nor should he be. You don't sign aging players like Chooch and Byrd to try to put the pieces together for one more run, then trade away your two best players.

Not going to get angry until something happens. . . but if one or both are traded... nuclear is not even close to how to describe the situation.

No doubt. The incompetence is shining through with Rube.

I actually have no beef with them looking to move Lee and Hamels. I have 0.0% trust that Rube is capable of getting a harvest back that will set the team up for success in 2016 and beyond.

Bad trade... who'd we get?

(It's only dumb to shop players because we know that Amaro is not likely to get good value for them. If we got some young Mariners arms, it would be fine; that's just not likely.)

You can't say that in a vacuum. What if, on some 1 in a trillion lucky break, the Angels were willing to trade Mike Trout for Hamels?

Of course that isn't going to happen, and of course we have no faith in Amaro, but would that be a stupid trade? Of course not. So that's why any MLB GM should be willing to listen to offers on ANY of his players.

I'd trade Hamels for Trout.
