Meh, just punt all the seasons until we have three or four early to late-20s stud hitters, and a young stud ace

(But the last time we were in that situation the general tone here was that the franchise was being destroyed)

is that really what you took out of not wanting to sign cruz and to a lesser extent (for me) byrd?

No, I don't. I don't even want Cruz. But, does signing Byrd move any needles? We spent $16M on a 35-year-old OF for a team that is going nowhere.

as opposed to giving up a pick and at least the same money to a 33 yo tubby OF on a team going nowhere.

Bolded, for your convenience.

I understand, just not sure why you even mentioned Cruz to begin with then.

You joined BSG in January of 2007. We won 89 games and lost the LDS. Then we won the WS, lost the WS, lost the LCS, lost the LDS, then turned to ass. There's never been a season @ bsg where we were "punting".

My point was people act like the only reason to pay attention is if you have five or six young all stars, but the last time we were actually in that boat, as recently as late 2008, a lot of people here (most?) were gothing out

Who knows. Go Phillies

Heyman says Seattle is willing to go 2 years + option/guaranteed 3rd year for Cruz

Morosi says the Dodgers are in active talks with Arroyo....which makes perfect sense since they only have Kershaw, Greinke, Beckett, Ryu, Haren, Billingsley and Fife

Cruz rejected a qualifying offer of $14.1 million. He must think he can get more than that obviously. Maybe he doesn't. Maybe he does not get that per year but he'll probably get way more than 16 million if he gets 2 years. And cost a pick.

He has absolutely no value on defense, which probably isn't helping.
