For every Myers for Shields there are 10 Cliff Lee for Aumonts. Just look at the other 10 times he was dealt.

the money thing is a fair point. they really could've done themselves some favors by spending aggressively in the draft and not falling in line with the commissioner's unenforceable strong arming. I don't get too excited over the "they chose player x over player y" because, like you said, that happens to every team, all the time.
