I don't have a problem with what he said. I have a problem with the fact that he's not very good anymore.

Well, we knew this stretch would eventually come to an end, we just didn't think it'd be this soon. In actuality, it ended when Ryan Howard ruptured his achilles to end Game 5 of the 2011 NLDS. We just didn't know it.

But I get it...watching the players who brought us so much joy being traded isn't fun. Last season, when we traded Shane Victorino, I was depressed for a couple of days. It hit me hard.

Jimmy should have said he doesn't want to leave because he wants to bring the team back to the playoffs, where they belong. A little swagger, not this selfish asshole we've come to endure.

I'd love to know what happens behind the scenes. Could Amaro subtly suggest they'll make sure his 2015 option doesn't vest?

When we were buyers, wasn't the 29th usually the day?

it seems like we start out talking about how we are going to get some actual decent prospects then as the deadline gets closer the conversation drifts, we lower our expectations and then we eventually convince ourselves that we when we are selling we have no leverage and its OK to get back a bag of lint for Michael Young.

I think the changes in free agency compensation and the addition of the wild card playoff have changed the trade market so drastically that everything might be pushed back. If the Phils get rid of someone today or tomorrow it'll be Cliff Lee. They'll put together some waiver trades next month
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

“Ruben has always been a buyer,” one rival executive told Rosenthal. “He doesn’t know how to sell.”

Other than the most recent trade deadline, yeah

Depends on what we do the next 6 months. If we try to paper mache over the holes on our roster, using expensive veterans, then yes...

It seems that "Rival Executives" also think Amaro is a smug douche

we are not the mets. we have money. it's a matter of allocating it properly that's the issue at hand.

Gonna be kinda mad if Schierholtz gets traded for an average to decent haul.

130-137 over the last 2 years. It's a little bigger than a money allocation problem, unless we're being very broad, like "We should stop allocating money to Ruben Amaro, and start allocating money to awesome players that could fix this shit real fast."

Don't be. Then we might've missed out on the stellar outfield defense of what's-his-name yesterday.

Outside of MY, who do we even trade? Pap is unmovable. Amaro seems to not want to trade Lee. We are extending Utley. Rollins said he won't leave.

Rosenthal this morning said that we're quietly talking Lee with teams, but that it would take a haul

http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-h ... -for-trade

Some have suggested Carlos Beltran's $26 million, two-year deal is a reasonable template for Utley considering their status as stars who've had knee issues, but Phillies GM Ruben Amaro's comments that he'd like to make Utley a "Phillie for life" suggest he may be considering at least three years.

Yeah, I wouldn't get my hopes too high for much of significance happening. It's not like MY10 is going to fetch much either.
