I assume Rube is just BSing. Not trading MY10 would be a new level of idiotic.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Seems like Young is now in play, though he's got control thanks to the no-trade.

i'm really curious to see what the phils plan is after the gonzalez deal. could be any number of things.

1) they see him as a lee replacement of sorts and are going to deal lee for a potential impact bat. go with hamels and 4 guys who are #3-#4 types while focusing on revamping the offense.

2) they envision a hamels-lee-mag-kendrick-pettibone rotation breaking faces next year and are sticking with the pitching trumps all mantra. utley comes back, asche takes over at third, they trade for middle of the road corner of bat.

3) they view gonzalez as next years first round pick. they're probably not bad enough to get a top 10 pick, so they'll have to forfeit it if they want to go out and get a guy like mccann. what they have to spend in money they get back in immediate availability.

4) rube's just throwing shit at the wall and still doesn't have any idea.

How about dealing Kendrick for a bat and rolling with Lee/Hamels/Doc/MAG/Pettibone... though I think they might well expend the pick for Choo.

feel like ruben has also said how much he treasures having a strong staff. i think he keeps Lee and just retools the lineup. also dont think this signifies the end of Halladay at all. that rests squarely on roys shoulders performance wise

Thought Biddle would be up here next year. Wonder where he fits in at this point.

The funny thing about Ruben is he has no plan and never does anything until he does stuff like trade for Halladay and Oswalt and Pence. Or sign Lee as an FA. Or trade Thome for two prospects -- both of whom have potential at least. Or extend Hamels. Or sign some Cuban Defector pitching stud. Or sign a Carlos Tocci who is playing A ball and holding his own as a 17 year old. Or draft some real good players. Or sign a Maikel Franco.

Doesn't really do anything or have a plan or anything.

I'm not sure he will make great moves. Or even if he makes good moves that they will work. Because team construction is a funny game. But he will do stuff. That's been his MO. Bold moves.

Like the idea of trading KK. Rube should show him that thread that outlines him pitching all those 7 inning less than three run games or whatever it is he has done.

Not really sure what he would bring.

his weakness is filling in the pieces around the edges, but most of the time that doesnt even matter because the core construction of the team has been hurt or underperformed, and thus thrust those guys into roles that they arent geared for.

"I read today, the Mets think they've got a chance, and they're right where we are," said Scott Proefrock, assistant GM of the Phillies. "You get on a run like they have - they've played better of late - and you can find yourself right back in it again."
