Can't see the Cards taking on that much salary. Any chance in the world they would move Holliday? Maybe take half of Rollins' money, too, to even out of the offensive production a bit?

Bob Klapisch:
#Yankees hoping #Phillies current slide will free up Michael Young. They're ready to pounce.

WHY would they not trade Young?

Also, Stark says they've talked to the Rangers about Young. Something's gonna happen.

Just out of curiosity, is John McDonald ahead or behind Young on the depth chart?

does anyone really believe that the phils dont have interest in moving Young? don't get suckered into that. the teams that want him now will still want him on wednesday. Rube is probably exhausting every option

Dunno about better, but it would be a shock for them not to stay in contention for a long time to come. Mozeliak is probably the best GM in the game, and Luhnow built him an unbelievable system before he left for the Astros job.

They're bloodless. Is there any way that our decision-makers would have figured out that Molina was more valuable than Pujols?

I can't say for sure if this is Rube's negation tactic but if I were trading Michael Young, the only way to drive up his price would be to say he is probably not on the market. If Rube is getting shit offers, he might as well wait until the last minute. The shit offers will still be there last minute. And if shit is all you are getting offered in return, I personally would be like, well fuck you I'm keeping him. I'm not suggesting Rube do that but if he conveyed that attitude it might pry loose a better return. It's not like we are trading Scott Rolen here.

If Rube is getting decent offers then yeah trade him already. But I'm guessing teams are trying to get him for nearly free.

Jimmy Rollins has been about the only bright spot offensively post All Star break for the Phillies, with a .838 OPS and three stolen bases, or more than he had in a month before that.

If the Rangers want Young back, I hope that the Phillies can snag Engel Beltre. I've been high on him for a while.

I agree with all of this. If Young doesn't get traded it may very well be teams were only offering doggie doo for him.

I'd be happy with a decent reliefer.

Lisalverto had a 7.95 ERA in AAA for the Rangers. They recently dropped him down to AA and he's pitched 13 dazzling innings.

He's a switch hitter I see. So there's certainly some space cadetty issues.

(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."
