Looking for a way to blame Amaro for this

Should the Phillies be worried? Perhaps. Sports Business Journal (subscriber only) reported last week that ratings for Phillies games on CSN Philadelphia through the first half of the season have dropped 36% from 2012. And while Philadelphia is the fourth-largest TV market in the country (after New York Los Angeles, and Chicago), the Phillies sit outside the Top 5 MLB teams in average TV ratings and average audience size. (Top 5 in ratings are the Tigers, Cardinals, Reds, Red Sox, and Pirates. Top 5 in audience size are the Yankees, Tigers, Red Sox, Mets, and Dodgers).

If the roster wasn't dog dick people might actually watch? Hard to come home from work and get pumped up for 4 Laynce Nix plate appearances

I'm with you. Buy!

A less stubborn GM would have released him months ago. Ruben Amaro, though, signed him for two years and, by golly, is going to keep him the whole time.

He's released players early before (Durbin and others I think), so I don't think that's fair.

Yeah. There have been some others. Qualls. How bout that Cuban guy? Bayez? The Phillies are probably like most, if not all teams, in this regard.

Nixxy is godawful though. Would rather see Susdorf start and maybe pick up some clown like that Dickerson guy or maybe even Angie Dickerson.

The good thing about our situation now is they can't do much to hurt the team and can add a lot just by subtraction. It's new math.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Yankees have been told by the Phillies that Michael Young is "not yet available and might never be."

I'm not quite a grote level optimist and I can see a case for just holding on to most of the guys through the end of the season, but if Young isn't traded before the deadline I am going to be fucking pissed. I don't care if the return isn't good, even if its a lottery ticket, get it, there is no reason for my10 to be on this team. None.

Maybe we should wait until the trade deadline before we become whiny bitches? Or at least not take every single rumor like it has been written in stone.

Pretty clear that Amaro has shot his bolt with this team.

The team was constructed to win in 09, 10, and 11. The injuries didn't help, but the aging was foreseeable and nothing was done to address it.

So we're stuck with Rollins because of the 5/10 clause, Utley should be traded but won't because we're too sentimental, Young should be pawned off for a reasonable prospect, Lee should be available and quite frankly anyone not named Dom Brown and Cole Hamels should be available off of this club.

The bloom is off Rube. What the fuck you going to do about it now that you maxed out the spending and the prospect pool is two to three years from making any impact at the MLB level?
"Of all of Ruben's gifts, the ability to simultaneously punch 4 million people in the dick is probably his most impressive." Endless Summer
