BIG PIECE is 0-12 with 7 Ks against LHP

Last year he batted .173 with 45 K in 98 AB against LHP

I realize he makes $25m a year and he's Ryan Howard and what not, but have we not reached the point where we should be looking for someone else to play 1B against LHP? He's beyond worthless against them. It's a pretty disastrous hole in this lineup and it's not that hard to find someone who could mash LHP and play 1B. And no I don't give a shit about Ryan Howard's feelings and how will it affect him.

And he's been insanely good as a pinch hitter (career 200 tOPS+). I really doubt it will ever happen though.

Any precedent for this kind of thing? I remember Ortiz having real struggles but he's been solid versus LHP

What the Phillies are doing for the family of that boy in Delco who was murdered by bullies is really nice. A reminder that, team questions aside, they have always been the classiest sports organization in Philadelphia, and it's not really close.

Honestly, let's revisit it in June. If his numbers are still that bad, we're looking at a year's worth of sample size, and that's when you bring Ruf up and give him his first baseman's mitt back.
