Given how much the Phillies have valued defense:

1) I am very surprised that Schierholtz was non-tendered
2) There is absolutely no way in living hell they will go into 2012 with Ruf-Hamilton-Brown in the OF and Youk at 3B

well if you add hamilton..you really need a RH bat in middle of order......

if we value defense so much than bourn is your guy(and you still need a rh power bat)

If they want to spend, they can definitely sign Pagan (switch hitter) and Hamilton and go with Galvis/Frandsen and maybe sign Chavez to platoon at 3B

Eh, the current OF is Ruf/Nix-Mayberry-Brown. Schierholtz is a very useful player. They're letting a good player go for nothing on a team whose best OF is now Domonic Brown.
