If the pitchers would quit being pussies and letting hitters put balls in play we wouldn't even need outfielders. ITS CHOLE'S FAULT

Crasnick doesn't think Fowler gets traded. Price is too high.

Right now I think I'd rank my preferences:

Solid or better outcomes:
Sign Hamilton for 6 or fewer years
Sign Vic for 3 or fewer
Sign Pagan for 3 or fewer
Trade non-top prospects for Coco Crisp

Bad outcomes:

Sign Bourn for 3 or more years
Trade a bunch of stuff for Fowler

What if the Phils made no big moves for a CFer or 3b?

What if they shored up the pen in a serious way, and just winged it with their own guys?

Can they make playoffs?

(assume Howard Utley each play 135 games minimum)

It's not my money so... but it just feels like whatever they do, they'll overpay and be saddled. Who wouldn't want to see Hamilton mashing in there for a year or two maybe. But I'd rather see them develop young talent or trade for lesser known talent on the rise. Get young and find the next Howard and Chase and Rolen and Rollins and Burrell --- s ??

Not easy.

I think that a healthy starting rotation and a serious bullpen like the Giants have had for a few years, and bit of good health and they are right back in the mix.

I didn't want Upton, and I don't want Bourn, and I'm not that high on any of these others, though I could live with Pagan I guess, but they LOV dud our here in SF. 50% at least he's staying out here.

Not sure where (if?) it was mentioned already, but Humberto Quintero is a Phillies. Minor league deal + ST invite

span to the nats.
a disasterous hamilton or bourn or pagan contract is getting closer by the day.
or paying too much for fowler.

about fowler, however... as someone who has followed the rockies from day one (i was at their first home opener), i can assure you that there are plenty of guys whose performance numbers move in strange directions when joining or leaving the rockies. some ex-rockies see their overall numbers after leaving end up closer to their coors numbers than their road numbers. holliday and pierre are the first examples to spring to mind. pierre had his age working in his favor, as will fowler.

Fowler's not going anywhere. Rockies' asking price is too high supposedly

No, it's really not. There just aren't enough shoppers out there to bid up those contracts too high.
