have moved away from chipotle, eating a zero carb diet now, almost all meat and veggies, no bread or rice. its an authentic italian butcher shop too, such an awesome place.

Win today, get some rest and sleep tomorrow emotionally and physically, and I could honestly see the Phillies running the table

Yeah here's a Q & A with Steaks. Main takeaway for me is he's serious about the Utley to 3B thing

Interesting he calls for a potential platoon at 3B otherwise. He mentions Frandsen vs LHP and a lefty hitter. Who is attainable that is a LH hitter for 3B AND is most likely a platoon player? Eric Chavez?

I think he's bluffing and will spend on an Adams/Madson type. Let the young/cheap guys battle it out for spots 3-7.

Love it - how insane would we go with him there? He has a .818 fld % at 3B this season. 8 errors in 44 chances.

Eighth-inning bullpen work has been a major trouble spot. Where does that rank in terms of things you need to fix?

Maybe zero.

Am I the only one who thinks moving Chase to 3B is a terrible idea?

For one, he's never played there and would likely be a downgrade defensively over most players we could put there. He played badly enough there in AAA a few years back that they thought it was a bad idea, and that was when he was in his mid-20's. I have to think he'll be worse now, though I get that 2B is hard on his body. Second, how does this solve any kind of problem with the offense? Is Galvis going to play 2B sans steroids? He could barely hit while on steroids. How bad will he be without them? I know he's a defensive wunderkind, but he would have to be two people playing 2B to make up for that much lost offense. I mean, nobody is THAT good defensively.

Or maybe I'm missing something? The fact that they're considering it makes me think they are either bluffing to try to keep the price down on the available 3B or that Chase's body has so completely broken down that they don't feel like he can play 2B at all.

the only reason I'd move him to third is if they think the FA options for 2b are better than they are at 3b, which may very well be. but regardless, it's not a decision they should make until they see what's out there.

The last time Chase played third, wasn't he a lot worse as a second baseman then, too? I feel like he improved a lot defensively (at least in terms of perception?)
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

I predict the bullpen will be great next year, even without adding a vet. They've got the talented, young arms necessary and the experience they all got this year will be invaluable. I can easily see DeFratus and Aumont settling into 7th and 8th inning roles, along with Bastardo. Lindblom would then take over the Clay Condrey Memorial role (or the Chad Durbun Memorial role, depending on how much you hate him). Then you fill out the other 2 spots from the loogies (Valdes, Horst, Diekman and Savery) and the righties (Stutes, Herndon, Rosenberg, Schwimmer). That's 13 guys with major league experience for 7 bullpen slots and most of them have had some success, even thought they've been erratic. If they could get Madson cheap then, sure, you do it. But even without another vet, I really think the bullpen will be a strength next year.

Well if you remove Rosenberg and Savery immediately from the discussion that would be nice. 11 guys for 7 spots seems more realistic. I still want a veteran arm back there, no questions asked
