Besides, Manuel said there is still a possibility that he would like to continue to be a manager, though he won’t be looking for a multi-year contract extension.
“I want to work next year and then figure out what I’m doing,” Manuel said. “I’m definitely all right just being on a one-year deal.”
After he signed his contract extension, Manuel said he wanted to remain with the Phillies for the rest of his career.
“I want to stay in Philadelphia for as long as I’m in baseball,” Manuel said after the contract was announced. “I’m a Phillie and I look at myself as a Phillie. Yeah, I was with the Indians and the Kintetsu Buffaloes, and the Yakult Swallows, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, but I’m a Phillie. When I cut my arm, it’s going to come out red, not blue. That’s how I look at it.”
