2012 Draft: Phillies picks, bios, signings, etc.

OK, here you go:

1. Serritella took 200k flat so we saved 72,300
2. Watson, Gueller, Cozens, Perkins, Brady, and Milner all got full slot value
3. Guth signed for 50k so we saved another 75k.

Thus, we are officially 147,300 under budget at this point. Does that plus Ludy savings plus Rash slot value get Rash?

Well, with Watson, Gueller and Cozens officially signing for slot, I think I'm officially worried about signing Rash. On the other hand, I can confirm that we *have* signed 2 post 10th round HS picks in OF Steve Golden and RHP Ricky Bielski.

to be fair, you worry every year!

Guilty as Don Draper.

i dont think it will take more than $75-100K over slot to sign Rash, tbh

So assuming we only went a touch over on Zach Green, we can juice one post 10th round offer by 100-150K or so. Looks like Bielski and Golden took the 100K (or less). I really don't have a problem with using nearly all of the allocation in the first 10 rounds. Picking a lesser player merely to free up money seems likely a risky strategy. I still think we could have squeezed Cozens a little bit but they must have thought someone else really wanted him too.

Ludy goes 0-1 with four consecutive walks and his Baylor team was knocked out 1-0. Sign em up

At the bottom of Brookover's Utley rehab article:

Third-round pick Zachary Green ... and second-rounder Michael Rash ... were also close to agreements with the Phillies, according to Wolever.

So it looks like all of the picks from the first 16 rounds (assuming Ludy and Carmona) will be signed

His friends apparently call him s="Snausage", but that hardly matters, because his mother insists that the name Micheal is not the contract that we all hope he inks.

God, now the Phillies aren't even letting Brookover see his own editor!

i dont see why he wouldnt. it wasnt like he was a first round talent that slide to the 11th round. he might require $50K-100K over slot, but they've got that.

Give him a break. He wrote that while hiding in Utley's locker.

I'm sure the Phils wouldn't have taken him if they weren't sure he was going to sign. just having a laugh at a Philly writer getting his name wrong.

I like that social media is making things so much easier for us to sort out status, especially when the player announces that they signed. Status update: Playing Pro Ball for the Phillies.

WTGS coverage of the signing was a little odd. 'We were the only ones on hand when he inked his contract...' I am not sure that this is covered much at all, and I expect that most deals are signed in an office or at the dinning room table, but hardly on camera for baseball deals. I am also not terribly sure where that went down, a local restaurant? It could have been his parents home, but there were some interesting noises in the background.

Addendum: In the Lundy twitter-pic, for you flat brim fans, he appears to be in a hotel lobby
