B-R doesn't have him anywhere close to HOF standards

Recently retired guys that should get in: Randy Johnson, Maddux, Griffey Jr, Pedro, Frank Thomas, Glavine, Mussina
Current guys that should get in: A-Rod, Jeter, Pujols, Manny, Pudge, Vlad, Chipper, Helton, Thome, Rivera
Recently retired guys that are on the bubble: Sheffield, Kent, Smoltz, Luis Gonzalez, Hoffman
Current guys that are on the bubble: Halladay, Pettitte, Giambi (could be left out due to roids), Ichiro

Not inconceivable he gets to 600 HRs. It really depends how much longer he's good and whether he has another 2011. Don't think there's a current (long-term veteran) player with a wider range of possible outcomes. He could hit 420 career homers or 620.

Reordering that BR list:

-I feel like Mussina is going to be a borderline candidate for a long time. Gets in towards the end of his eligibility
-Manny will struggle because of the roids. Vlad and Helton don't get in.
-Shef gets in many years from now. Smoltz gets in sooner than later. Hoffman gets in within his eligibilty period. Gonzo and Kent don't get close.
-Halladay is in before 5 years. Pettitte is in. Giambi misses out. Ichiro is first or second ballot.

I think the bolded guys are in. Mussina is practically a lock. I think Helton gets in but could see him not. Manny should get in despite the roids. Doc may not have the wins but has a Cy in each league and a perfect game. Pettitte, Sheff, and Giambi I could see either way. I don't think Kent or Gonzo get in.

excepting the reality where he won't get in, Barry Bonds should be a first-ballot hall of famer but you know

also Bagwell is currently on the ballot and should get in. Tim Raines might have a shot too.

I'd argue that Larry Walker, Kenny Lofton and Scott Rolen will get some support. Biggio, Edgar Martinez, Piazza, Sheffield, maybe.

Ruth received 215 of 226 votes meaning he wasn't on 11 ballots. All voters were supposed to vote for 10 players. Ruth was an active player at the time. There's a good chance the voters didn't get detailed instructions and the 11 who didn't vote for Ruth didn't want to vote for an active player.

The Astros finished July 3-24. Including the last 3 games of June and this afternoon's loss, they've lost 28 of their last 31.

Could only happen in the Cubbies organization: ump runs PA guy at Daytona Cubs game

Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)
