Fine, I'll say it. I know we joke about it here but I am a little concerned about the Dodgers new found wealth.

in 1917, Hippo Vaughn led all of baseball with a 5.9 K/9.

in 1918, he led all of baseball with a 4.6 K/9.

also:Hippo Vaughn currently holds the record for most errors by a pitcher in a career in the National League with 64

His strikeout rate was kept quite low by Hackity Jim McDougitty Crenshaw I believe.

Corncob O'Malley had quite the year too.

It is concerning, but it's not the end of the world. How man elite players make it to free agency? This off season the prize is going to be Josh Hamilton, and he's not a clear cut difference maker (he is when he's health and clean, but neither those are a given). The dodgers don't have elite prospects which makes trading for elite major league talent difficult, the best they could do this year was League, Blanton, Vic and Ramirez. Han ram is probably a good player, but he's also kind of a turd if he's not happy. So anyway what are going to spend their mythical wad of cash on? Looking at the free agent list, Greinke is out there, so they could throw a lot of money at him and Hamilton, if they do that, are you more afraid of them next year? I guess slightly, but it's not like they'd become the next dynasty from those moves, IMO and I don't think Greinke goes there either. What will wind up happening is, the dodgers, as well as us most likely, are going to spend a ton of money on some mediocre, at best, players. Trades and developing your own young talent is the way you win, not spending eleventy billion dollars on Xavier Nady and Austin Kearns

Hippo Vaughn threw nine no hit no run innings one time but didn't pitch a no-hitter because opposing pitcher Fred Toney also threw nine hitless frames. Vaughn lost in the tenth.

This was only double no-hitter in MLB history.

Didn't someone that posts/posted here work for MLB media? Hmmmm.
