Apparently, it was an MLB employee... "actions from a single rogue administrator".

Didn't someone that posts/posted here work for MLB media? Hmmmm.

BTW, this one made me laff...

Leyland says Verlander could throw 130+ pitches every start if he wanted (and thinks all pitchers can throw 120+)

"It's a walk in the park for him. That's just today's baseball that that's always going to be talked about. That's just today's modern baseball. Guys used to throw that like it was nothing."
.
.
"I think Justin Verlander could throw 140 pitches and I don't think it would bother him one bit. I truly believe that. I wouldn't do it. But when I say that, he was only eight off last night."
.
.
"This stuff of cutting these guys off and not letting them pitch innings, in my opinion, is a mistake. I don't agree with it. That's just my personal opinion."

"[Pitch counts] became a hot topic when agents and big contracts came into play, if you want to know the truth. Tell it like it is, cut through all the bullshit, sort through all the bullshit: When the agents and the big contracts came into play, the pitch count came into play, in my opinion."

maybe not even the pitch counts. but the fact is that when a batter see's a pitcher for the 3+ times he hits him very well. that just happens to coincide around the 100 pitch mark.

what is wrong about leyland's point of view (and the opposite point of view) is that it assumes all pitchers are equal. verlander may not experience the same level of fatigue at pitch 100 that a guy like worley does. part of that is genetics, part of it is training and conditioning, part of it is age/development.

i think its pretty smart to monitor workloads of young pitchers, until they reach the age of, say, 24 or 25. at that point, they aren't still physically developing, they are what they are. still, some guys are capable of pumping 130 pitches per start, others simply aren't.

Guys, a pitcher who can hit 100 MPH in the 8th and 9th inning is just like everyone else! - Leyland

who cares what he says, he has a limit, too. His is just different. He's a jackass
