In a theoretical vacuum, yeah. But what's Charlie's alternative at the moment? Would you feel better with Rollins leading off and Mayberry/Ruiz/Pierre/Galvis five through eight?

Yes, I would prefer we have our 2 worst hitters getting the least amount of ABs possible.

Well Galvis is batting eighth. Not sure who the second-worst is at this point, honestly.

We all understand the theories behind lining your best OBP guys up 1-8. But spare me the babe gothery over Charlie wanting two of his handful of line-drive-capable hitters, Rollins and Victorino, in the middle of the order against righties.

And underscoring the irrelevance of all this, Victorino leads off tonight.

It's pretty obvious that Pierre/Wiggy/Nix would be the 2nd worst. I'm not saying line up your best OBP guys 1-8, I'm saying don't bat Pierre or whoever 1st. Don't know who is arguing those other points.

Maybe they should think about bringing him back for the season. Can't be any worse!!
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

Well, you are, indirectly. Dropping Pierre to 7 or 8 means moving one of your few line-drive hitters from the 3 or 5 hole. Which is reasonable, but I'm not gonna get worked up about Manuel not doing that against righties, as appears to be the plan.

Again, if Pierre proves as awful as you guys think he is, and/or Utley or Howard returns or one of the LF/1B guys starts hitting, the situation will take care of itself.

An all-righty lineup? Unpossible! Charlie's probably twitching

Why does Pierre get the benefit of the doubt. This is an indescribably terrible player. We know he sucks. We don't need any more proof of this sucking. He's sucked year in/year out. He sucks now, he sucked then (with a one year blip in 2010). He wall to wall sucks.

Juan Pierre is to General Managers as "not believing in dinosaurs" is to Vice Presidents. It's a fundamentally disqualifying issue. He's never the right answer to any question you could come up with. There's always a better option if he makes a dollar over the minimum.

If the question is Laynce Nix or Juan Pierre, the answer is that it doesn't matter enough for me to care. I'd prefer option C, but that seems unlikely with Amaro.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Because he's old and Manuel and Amaro love that almost as much as they hate winning.

Laynce Nix has been a demonstrably better player the last two years according to any stat and according to the market and/or your own general manager depending on your view of winner's curse. Short of fucking Charlie Manuel's daughter during Spring Training, there is literally nothing he could have done to deserve starting less games than Juan Pierre right now. Nothing.

I don't think the groundout in the RBI spot and horribly awful bunt helped him much so far

He was already behind Pierre at that point. If you're going to use two at bats...

No, it's really not. Pierre played well in the spring and Nix did nothing but get injured. And you're freaking out about it five games in. And in two of those games, Pierre had big, potentially game-swinging hits.

Do you honestly think Charlie Manuel, of all fucking people, would ice a lefty power bat if he were anywhere close to 100%?

If you can answer yes to that question, then yeah, I'll redact the emoticon.

Played well in the spring is not allowed to be used as a defense of anything. We really think Laynce Nix is hurt right now?

And did you really say I guy hitting .231 is playing well? He's got three hits. One of em was bound to be with people on base. We didn't even win that game.

You can't ignore the 11 outs he's made.

Having played well in the spring is already irrelevant five games past spring? If this were Pierre v. 2011 Mayberry, yeah. But not Pierre vs. Nix.

Nix was definitely hurt in mid/late March. I'm offering it as a possibility for him not playing as much as Pierre to date. Since Charlie loves power as much as just about anyone loves anything. And you went on a rant about there being no possible explanation.

Nix has a career .288 OBP. The last two years where he got 300 PA (2011 and 2009) his OBP was .299 and .291. He fucking blows.

Am I really supposed to give a shit that he doesn't get AB?
