It's a miniscule deal. If Nix sucks he'll just release him

I think Nix and Wigginton would both have to be gangbusters and Mayberry really scuffling for Mayberry to get shafted here

I think Charlie trusts Mayberry now. Don't think he'll respect/play Nix the way he did Rule, who had already had a huge year here and a very respectable track record. I think those Rube comments were more trying to tell Mayberry not to get comfortable yet

And clearly Rube and Manuel aren't of the same mind all the time, with Brown being called up twice against Rube's judgment

I suspect that, until Howard comes back, Mayberry will get almost all the starts in LF, with Nix getting an occasional start against a tough RHP and, at 1B it'll be Thome once a week or so with Nix and Wigginton platooning the rest of the time. Once Howard will come back, Charlie will take a look at how Mayberry's been doing against RHP and decide what to do accordingly.

I hope you all are correct, and you probably all. Still, DB is nowhere to be found, even in the BSG LF conversation.

Dom-o-nique? I'm fine with him working on his LF defense and (hopefully) hitting his way to Philadelphia, which is basically what Amaro said

I think Amaro clearly does not believe in Brown. And he was overruled last year when Charlie really wanted Brown up. And Brown struggled, and proved he obviously couldn't even play passable defense in a corner.

I don't think Brown is playing a meaningful role at all in 2012, and I think the Phillies are hoping he lights up AAA so they can cash in on him.

Yeah as of now it's not looking good for Brown as a Phillies. Hope he has a big spring and looks less like a drunk baby deer on skates in the OF, for both internal and trade purposes

The Laynce Nix talks just reminds me how Mayberry got like 4 ABs in the playoffs last year thanks to shitty Ibanez even though Maberry hit righties better than Ibanez and was infinitely better in the field. Mayberry actually had a slightly higher OPS against righties than Nix last year too.

And I just noticed Nix has a career .288 OBP. Jesus.

At least he doesn't clog the bases.

I still think one of the bigger mistakes of Game 5 was not getting him an AB. Instead Polanco grounded out weakly to short for the 300th time in the series

Oswalt told the Tigers he wasn't interested in playing there even though Verlander tried to recruit him

They're also considering Glue as a DH to replace Martinez

Just heard Big Chuck on WIP. Howard is ahead of schedule, expected back before June. Polanco is in good shape and passed all the physical tests at the instructional complex. Contreras is throwing and a little ahead of schedule

Not much Xs and Os wise but said Mayberry will mainly play LF and also some spot starts in CF and 1B

Was hoping they would have asked about Utley's knee.

Would have preferred that to six Dontrelle Willis questions, yeah

Pence the other day sounded optimistic about it
