Phillies aren't bringing back their batting practice pitcher, Ali Modami, per Randy Miller. Miller says Phillies weren't good to Modami. No benefits and poor pay. Did not want to give him a World Series ring until players like Werth complained about it. PR guy resented the fact that Modami was close with the players. Kept him out of media guide. Who knows what the deal is here... But I know he is buddies with Francisco. There was an article about the two by Passan.

Stories like this, I like to follow Occam's Razor. The fired guy is butthurt and making shit up and Randarino is just the douchebag to turn to if you want a media voice to parrot your unsubstantiated claims against the Phils.

The Orioles have been just about the worst team in MLB in developing their prospects, especially the pitchers. Do not want.

Then he shouldn't have been playing in the playoffs.

The Phillies have hired Joe Jordan as director of player development. Comes from the Orioles. He'll be in charge of farm system, per Matt Gelb.

Someone tell me it's not his fault that Matusz, Tillman, Arrieta, Britton all lost velocity and/or pitched poorly. The drafts seems to have gotten better (although they suck so it's not hard to draft Wieters and Machado) but Rowell, Brandon Snyder, Wade Townsend, Garett Olson, and Pedro Beato were all 1st round picks when he was Scouting Director and Hobgood looks like a complete disaster.

don't pitching prospects have huge flame out rates? Could just be bad luck

Could be, but I'm struggling to remember the last decent SP the Orioles developed since Mike Mussina.

It's Lamar's role, but the title will be different (not asst-GM)
