If Madson is looking for big closer money, I agree. But if he would actually sign for 2 years at $7M per I figure he's not really getting in the way of the other two goals.

I actually take this back. I could see him signing a one year deal for really cheap if he's healthy and the Phils want him back. They'll always like a veteran or two back there. He probably really likes it here, he just gets to chill back and relax, and he has a starting staff that can go 7 a night. His time is winding down, this is like an early retirement

Already committed to 113 mil for next year. Jeez. Gotta figure out Madson, Hamels, Rollins, Oswalt(?), Pence. Plus, fleecing the Mets in a David Wright deal. Rube's got his work cut out for him.

I believe he's signed thru 2012.

What does everyone think about buying out Oswalt and signing him to a cheaper deal? Would that be possible? I guess he'd have to want to do it too. This happens quite a bit in football, I wonder if it happens in baseball.

Here would be my list of priorities

1) Extend Hamels

2) Resign Rollins (For 3 yrs or less, if not, move on)

3) Get a 3rd baseman that isnt a soft ass bitch

4) Resign Madson

Honestly, it might be best just to move on. Worley should be fine and you'd have to think that Blanton will have a bounce back year. I would focus on getting Hamels signed and resolving the issue at third.

Depends on the price. If he wants to sign a 2-20 deal, don't you have to take something like that? He's Roy fucking Oswalt

Yea, that's what I think. I have to think both sides would still wanna cuddle with one another after this season. I feel like there'd be a good chance to get him for cheaper than 16 mil, and taking into account his buyout money.
I wonder if Kendrick comes back, he sucks so hard but is really serviceable. Hopefully not for the money he makes now. If not, even though Blanton makes a good amount more, maybe he's the safety net 6th ace for the backend of the rotation if Oswalt is back.

I think they need to focus on signing Hamels, re-signing Rollins or finding someone to replace him, resolving the issue at third, and working on the bullpen much more than whether Oswalt should be back as our #4.

They can do them all.

I want them to fix 3rd base, but I could see Rube putting that on the backburner since Polanco still makes money and still has a year left on his deal. Unfortunately, I can see them taking care of that after 2012.

If they can, then it's not a problem. I would definitely like to have Oswalt back for another season.

They'll pick up Longoria after next year, no worries.
