But I don't think Jimmy has any chance at the HOF. He had 1 great year, aside from that he's just been pretty good overall. I mean, he hasn't been an all star since 2005.

I did say outside chance. A few things have to go his way. But he's currently having the second best season of his career, so while it might be a swan song he could also keep close to this quality of play a few more years. His top ten b-r comps through age 31 include three HOFers, two future HOFers in Jeter and Craig Biggio, and a couple well-respected/borderline guys (Alan Trammel, Lou Whitaker).

If he can play another three years near his current level he at least puts himself in the conversation. I don't think he'll drop off the ballot very quickly, especially as a guy in the steroid era who was great at all the things roiders typically aren't. He's also the longest tenured player on one of the most successful teams in recent baseball vintage, which shouldn't necessarily help but it surely will.

Rollins also has the mystique factor of the 2007 team to beat/MVP season/epic comeback going for him

Rollins needs another WFC on his resume to go with the MVP and all the additional stats he ought to accumulate over the next 5 years. Assuming good health I think he's got a pretty decent shot.

This is eerie. I was just talking about Jimmy's chances at the HOF with a friend last night. I put it at less than one percent. He thought it was a little higher. He'd have to get at least 2,500 hits.
