If I'm counting right, we're at 39 people on the 40 man, with Lidge needing to count again soon cause he's on the 60 day DL. Wonder if we can move either Blanton or Contreras to the 60 day DL to make a spot for Grili? I don't know all the rules about that.

you can backdate a 60 day DL move.

Blanton can be placed on the 60 day tomorrow and it still dates back to the last time he pitched

And Werth has 9 RBI's since June 1st The Nats got him off us for $126 million. We got MMart off them for $50K.

Grilli tweeted the following in the wee hours of the morning Wednesday: "Black & Yellow! Black & Yellow! Black & Yellow! Cannot wait to join the new squadron." The 34-year-old right-hander signed a minor league deal with the Phillies in January and has a 1.93 ERA and 43/12 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season. He hasn't pitched in the majors since 2009.

Martinez has 5 in 107 PAs. Polly has 15 in 358 PAs, 3 since June 1rst (122 PAs). If you start at June 5th, you get to exactly 107 PAs for Polanco, during which he had all 3 of those XBHs.

So, in conclusion Martinez > Polanco.

He taught Mike Scott how to cut the ball up, and then they taught Nolan Ryan how to cut the ball up. Larry Andersen was a good pitcher before that, but as a hitter, I know he did. The ball moved too dang much.
