Oswalt very encouraged by bullpen. No pain he says. Could throw one more pen and two rehab games. Maybe early august return.

Think he's gotta get a shot, with Carpenter getting the boot
He probably should

He's not on the 40 is he?
@magelb Matt Gelb
Halladay was asked if he had an I.V. "I’d rather not get into those specific things." He just didn't want to divulge the software upgrade.

Michael Martinez is third on the Phillies with 11 RBIs in July. Only Ibanez (14) and Mayberry (12) have more.
Uh yeah

If I'm counting right, we're at 39 people on the 40 man, with Lidge needing to count again soon cause he's on the 60 day DL. Wonder if we can move either Blanton or Contreras to the 60 day DL to make a spot for Grili? I don't know all the rules about that.
Jason Grilli indicated via his Twitter account that he has joined the Pirates.
Grilli tweeted the following in the wee hours of the morning Wednesday: "Black & Yellow! Black & Yellow! Black & Yellow! Cannot wait to join the new squadron." The 34-year-old right-hander signed a minor league deal with the Phillies in January and has a 1.93 ERA and 43/12 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season. He hasn't pitched in the majors since 2009.

David Laurila: Who did you least like to face? For instance, Ryne Sandberg told me that the pitcher who gave him the most trouble was Larry Andersen.
Chili Davis: Well, Larry cheated. Ryno probably wouldn’t say that, but later in Larry’s career, he cut the ball up. He taught Mike Scott how to cut the ball up, and then they taught Nolan Ryan how to cut the ball up. Larry Andersen was a good pitcher before that, but as a hitter, I know he did. The ball moved too dang much.
