Hand is sore, huh? From being hit by a batted ball, huh? I can pretty well figure out exactly what ball(s) hit his hand.

That's just ridiculous.

This family was just on NBC10 talking about the loss of their 7-yr old son and they said Ryan Howard showed a lot of support and recorded a video for the elementary school (which can be seen on that FB page). Last night RealKen was talking about the story when Ryan hit the HR off Lewis.

Maybe this is a precursor to getting Werth back.

e: actually Google says Valdez has been the emergency catcher.

An Ultimatum from Ruben Amaro, Jr.

From just before Monday's game:

Ruben Amaro finally has made it clear: Either the Phillies start hitting, or he will find a lineup that will.

More than that, he did not rule out the possibility that they would increase their payroll to the point where they would join the Yankees in paying a luxury tax ... if he thought that would be necessary.

Amaro: “I haven’t really had a discussion with David (Montgomery) about that one way or the other. Those are things we will have to discuss at the particular time. Hopefully the guys we have here will improve our club and we won’t have to go that route.”

Great, must I now concede to the Yankees of the NL comparisons? Good thing or bad?

I saw him make similar comments on CSN. Not even trying to hide his disdain for the reporters. Chomping gum.
