True, true.

Phils staff leads the league in Ks, BBs allowed, ERA+, CG, SO, ERA, FIP, XFIP, SIERA,WAR (9.8 to Braves 8.2), is 2nd in HRA, and have the fewest blown saves in MLB (1). Braves lead the league in grit and awesomeness.

One of the "Five Trades That Need to Be Made" from Schonenfeld today on ESPN:

Astros trade OF Hunter Pence to Phillies for OF Domonic Brown and P Jarred Cosart.

Why should the Astros trade their best player? For several reasons: (1) He's good, but not that good; he does a lot of nice things on a baseball field, but a mediocre OBP prevents him from being a true star. (2) He's starting to get expensive. He won $6.9 million in arbitration for 2011 and will likely get at least $10 million next season. (3) He's 28, and while he's at his peak right now, he may not be at his peak as he turns 30 ... aka, by the time the Astros are likely to be good again.

As for the Phillies, they are in win-now mode. Sure, Brown and Cossart are arguably their top prospects, but the jury remains out on how much Brown will contribute this season. They risk giving up a future All-Star, but Pence gives them a much-needed dependable bat for the middle of the lineup. With $24 million of Raul Ibanez and Brad Lidge coming off the books after this season, the Phillies can also afford to pick up Pence's future salary.

I don't make that trade and I like Pence alot.

And despite the gooey awesomeness of the Barves's HOF-laden offense and the Phils' undeniable suckitude:

Phils: .248/.314/.372, .308 wOBA, 4.3 WAR, 3.96 Runs/g

Barves: .242./.310/.381, .304 wOBA, 4.0 WAR, 3.96 Runs/g

I assume there was a rounding error in there somewhere, because that simply cannot be true per Olney

That seems like the trade you look back on 5 years later and go, "Man how could they have given up those guys for him."

I was going to post this earlier because I thought it was pretty crazy but then thought I might be over-valuing Dom and/or under-valuing Pence. I still think it seems pretty crazy.

Yeah, that's too much for Pence. Phils have to introduce lower-cost young-ins into the roster in order to balance out the big contracts. They need to give Brown every chance to succeed. I could see them doing a rent-a-player deal, if necessary, but not anyone who requires a longer commitment. And, if you give up your best two prospects for somebody, you better sign him long-term.

It should also be noted the Braves injuries have been more significant than the Phillies.

Yeah, a guy on his walk year or a guy who will be very expensive next year would be ideal, trade-leverage wise. We could handle the latter by replacing Ibanez with Brown.

Dare we ponder the Ice Queen? At least we wouldn't have to worry about the prospect(s) we send to the Mets ever blossoming.

Plus - couldn't we get a rental player (Ludwick, Beltran) for far less and still get a comparable result?

Well I really like the idea of Brown-Vic-Pence in the OF. Could see Mayberry being included in the deal, although if we make another trade with the Fightin Ed Wades we might get in trouble for colloodling.

Yep. Or Cuuddyer or Kubel or Quentin. Plenty of bats out there. No need to go crazy.

I think if we ask Wilpon right now today we could have Wright, Reyes, and Beltran for a package of hot dogs that sat out on the counter after last night's game but still look and smell ok and it hasn't been too warm yet today.
