Real Ken to talk free agents soon on MLB network and teases that Rollins could be on the move before the end of the year. WTF?

I am really not a Pence fan. The thing I like least about him is a contract.....he won his arb case this year to get 6.9mm, and as a former Super 2 he has two more times to go through the arb process. So we're looking about 22+mm total for 2012-2013 if he stays healthy. Still not outrageous at all for him (he's worth more than that), but that is a big chunk of change for a two-year arb-eligible guy for whom the Astros will probably want good pieces in return

To me Pence would be behind all of Rollins, Madson and Oswalt in terms of guys who should be earmarked for that money for 2012 and on (with Chole obviously being #1 priority). Victorino is another guy who they may have to re-invest in.....I was hoping Gillies or Gose could provide a credible option to take over in 2013, but it sure looks like that won't be the case

Kurkjian picked up on the Pence rumors but doesn't think there's any way Houston trades him. He said the Phils are looking for a "Pence-like" player though...

Willingham has a career .263/.364/.471 line. He's on the last year of his deal so he's a rental. Completely perfect fit IMO.

lost in the midst of the end of our academic year, i only just noticed that the phils are in the midst of playing for 20 straight days. with the effects of last night, it's pretty much 21 games in 21 days and doesn't end until after next wednesday, so the the pressure isn't off even after they are done playing the above-.500 teams. and all this while still fighting the injury plague. unlike last year when they sucked in may for no apparent reason, this year they actually have an excuse for a sucky may but aren't really sucking too badly. barring further injuries they're going to rock and roll in june.

Hunter Pence is one of those guys, of course, that would drive everyone crazy. Never walks, gets thrown out a ton trying to steal, throws the ball around a lot.

On the other hand he can run, throw and hit, and those are nice.

This is interesting:

The Phillies may have an interesting gem here in Valdez. He's got some crazy movement on two of his pitches, though they both have release point issues, and he has a nice normal two-seam fastball as well. He could certainly be a guy who gets ground balls with the fastball, while getting whiffs with the slider, should he learn to control such pitches (I'd ditch the four-seamer as much as possible though). All in all, he demonstrates once again: when late in extra innings, a team should take chances on the new guy. Maybe they'll fine the next great closer, after all.

Down at the Jersey shore for the weekend (Wildwood). Everywhere I look, some teenager is wearing something to do with the Phillies.

I remember when wearing anything Phillies related reduced my already fairly worthless social standing.
