at this point the requirement to get onto the wall of fame are must have some weak connection to the phillies organization.

Kruk has always had a strong affiliation with the Phils. I don't get your point.

Or be one of the most popular players from the most popular teams of the last 30 years.

he played here for 5 years. it just seems by adding someone every year it turns into a worthless honor.

They're doing one every year so they can honor them individually but not posthumously. Would not be surprised at all for the pace to be slowed down a bit until the current class can start to be included.

Although if Telemaco ever gets in I'll concede to your argument.

Given the history of the team, 5 years is a pretty long time. He was the first or second best 1Bman in Phils history prior to Howard's arrival.

I think what Calvin's saying is that Von Hayes is getting screwed here.

He's been in the fear thread at least twice this week. What more could a guy want?

He'd probably have gotten more face time in the fear thread if he played soccer too.

Fat Ronaldo, cunt Ronaldo, Messi, Xavi and the awesomest goal ever. I've been much more restrained in soccer pics this year.

If Vuk hadn't died relatively young, would he be on the Wall of Fame? He really was a terrible player. Somehow I doubt his 3B coaching prowess got him there.

He was a coach here for 17 years. Maybe his early death was a factor but if he hadn't died early he'd have been in the organization longer and probably would have made it eventually anyway.

Money was also a huge disappointment. He was the centerpiece of the Bunning deal and he flopped with the Phils. He blossomed in Milwaukee.

The Phils, for some reason, traded all their black players away during the late 60s/early 70s. Ferguson Jenkins; Grant Jackson; Alex Johnson; Dick Allen of course. Briggs; Gamble; Hisle (although Hisle was a legitimate disappointment). I remember it being an issue at the time. They even gave away Tony Taylor.

I remember it was really weird and turned me off to the way they were doing things.

you're the best smitty

My dad told me that Bill Robinson used to get the business from a lot of his "blue collar" Olney friends back in the day - he had his best year with the Phils the year before I was born but put in some solid work with those great Pirate teams.

I remember him coming back to the Phils in 82-83 and getting caught in a Paul Owens squeeze play (when my pop pop had season tix).

Vuk deserves it on coaching and I'm still holding a candle for Ron Reed. Dude was a dick, but logged a lot of quality time in the 70s-80s.
