There's slow pitch men's softball on espn3.com right now. USA vs Canada. There's a 10 home run limit per team and every batter starts with a 1-1 count. It's currently 13-0 USA.

The way the outfield grass is cut in PNC Park in Pittsburgh makes centerfield look like a vagina.

If Kangaroo Court is what I think it is, then I would pay hard money to see it.

I guess I hadn't kept careful track, because my mind was blown last night when ESPN started going over the people who would become eligible for the Hall of Fame. In 2013, Bonds, Biggio, Clemens, Piazza, Sosa, Schilling, and David Wells will all be eligible.

At first blush, just hearing their names, I thought any of those 7 could get in. Looking at it, I don't think Wells' 239 wins are enough given his 4.13 lifetime ERA (108 ERA+), but he'll get some Yankees-related votes.

In an alternate, non-steroid universe, I don't think Schilling would have had a shot either, because I think the other 5 - Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, Piazza, and Biggio - would al have been legitimate first-ballot HOFers. 5 legitimate first ballot guys!

However, with Bonds, Clemens, and Sosa now all in doubt, my guess is you'll see just Piazza and Biggio next year, with Schilling getting quite a few votes. then Maddux/Glavine/Frank Thomas in 2014, and then in 2015 you have Randy Johnson and John Smoltz on the ballot I think if Schilling can maintain until then, he might actually be able to ride Randy Johnson's "coattails" into the HOF.

As much as I dislike him, I'm going to be irritated when bonds doesn't get in

Thanks swish. Riveting stuff. I am more familiar than I care to express (the result of workaday drudgery rather than terrible catastrophe) with the very spot that train went over. Amazing to reflect that wrecks of that kind were practically routine at the time.
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

1945. It seems impossible.

(I was away and am now catching up, but...)

Going along with this they are 0-7 in elimination games (for either team) in the NLCS.

1984: Led 2-0 and lost final three to Padres
1989: Trailed 3-1 and lost Game 5 to the Giants
2003: Led 3-1 and lost final three to Marlins.

They also are 0-8 in playoff games since (and including) the Steve Bartman incident.

So, the Barves are three losses away from joining us in the 10000-loss club.

Also, the Orioles are 898 games below .500 entering today, while the Phillies are 1069 games below. Hopefully, Peter Angelos owns that team long enough that we can pass them within the next few years.

My friend died from that last year at 42. He had it in his early 30s and beat it, but it came back nine years later and he couldn't beat it again. His father died of the same thing about 10 years ago. Awful for anyone to go through.

The husband of someone I work with found out he had this on a Tuesday and was dead on Thursday. He was too far gone when they found it, tried some operation, but he got an infection and died the next day. Left a 1 yr old boy and a wife who is one of the nicest people on the planet.

Hope Cameron can beat it.
