For example, it just dawned on me why the cheap seats are called "bleachers": because in early ballparks they were the uncovered seats, and thus exposed to the sun, and thus those who sat in them got "bleached." Bleachers.

Huh.

I thought it was the wooden boards themselves that were bleached.

Rosenthal says K-Rod restructured contract so there's no more vesting option. Took additional money now and will be free agent at the end of season. No need for Brewers to worry about GF anymore.

I'll hate the Brewers forever for taking away the fun of KRod's Mets option chase.

Frankly, I hope they get Beltran.

Cause if there's any place I want to see the Phillies play in the playoffs, it's Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Pirates are in 1st place in the NL Central, the latest into a season they've been in 1st since July 17, 1997.

I would probably feel that way if I gave a shit about hockey, but as I don't, huzzah for the Pirates!

Still hate the Steelers though.

I find this hard to believe, it was good for you hardcore baseball fans looking for some behind the scenes stuff.

I mentioned it in the TV thread. Enjoyable, except for the gruesome Cody Ross and Posey-injury (in slow motion 500 times) scenes.

Yeah, I saw my first big league game in Forbes Field and lived in North Hills for awhile. Go Buccos!

We play, what, three games in Pittsburgh every year? How does that mean anything?

And I know anything can happen in a short series, but I'd sure as hell rather play them in the first round than Milwaukee or St. Louis.

Having friends who are Steelers and Pens fans gloat about those successes has been annoying enough. I don't need to see them have any happiness about the Pirates.

Every time I read this number, I am astounded all over again: the Cubs haven't been to a World Series since 1945.

1945. It seems impossible.

Big whoopdeedoo. I get depressed every fifth day when Kyle Kendrick goes out to pitch, but I suck it up and watch the damn ballgame anyway.
