This could just as easily go in the random thoughts thread, but, when you think about it, isn't it kind of astounding that the Mets have done NOTHING about the outfield dimensions at Citi? I mean, now they can't afford to change anything, I realize, but you'd think maybe before now they would have responded to fans' angst: the team has been building bad will since the place opened with its lackluster play on the field, and it seems pretty much ALL Mets fans hate the dimensions of Citi. You'd think as a public relations move if nothing else they'd throw the fans a bone and move the fences in.

Another GF for K-Rod last night, with no save and a three-run homer allowed. They beat the Braves. Best possible outcome for us.

If Bay weren't a Met and weren't making an absurd amount of money, I'd feel legitimately bad for the guy

Hell, I do feel bad about how the wonderful Mets doctors put him on a cross-country flight after he suffered a concussion

was reading that the Wilpons deal with Einhorn is somewhat interesting-

$200 mil gets Einhorn 33% ownership
within 3 years the Wilpons can pay Einhorn back his 200 mil and Einhorn gets 1/6th ownership
if they can't pay him back then Einhorn gets majority ownership (60%) for $1 (yes that's one dollar) more

So he invested 200 million now. In 3 years, if he gets that 200 million back, he keeps 1/6 of the team. If he does not, he gets 60% ownership.

Basically, he has no risk, he can't lose here. He either gets 1/6 of the Mets as interest for 3 years of a 200 million dollar loan or he purchased 60% of the team for 200 million bucks (valuing them at about 350 million? seems low to me). Not sure if he assumes 60% of the debt too or what.

That's one hell of a deal for him.

If you value the Mets at 600 mil, 1/6 of that is 100 mil. 100 mil in interest over 3 years for a 200 mil loan? 50% Basically 15% APR?

If you value them at 300 mil (as the 200 mil figure for 60% suggests), then 1/6 is 50 mil for interest for 200 mil, so 25%, which is about 8% APR, which I guess is more reasonable.
