Earl was weak, but the rest of the comedies (especially Scrubs) were on the money. Gooooood stuff.

The Office was solid again. "Andy is like Marv Something. Big weirdo creep."

I was thinking that the scene where Michael went to get Dwight at Staples was like that scene from An Officer and a Gentleman.

When Michael and Dwight were leaving the strore I think they were playing a musak version of Up Where We Belong in the store.

Liev Schreiber on CSI...I think they are trying to strike a medium between the overly analytic Grissom and the 'emotionally' driven Caruso...I wonder if his character 'does well' could they possibly use him to replace to god awful caruso

Doubt it, why would they replace the lead character on the top rated show. I agree he stinks BTW. On OnA they have been playing this bit where someone took a bunch of his opening lines and strung them together, it's really freakin' funny. Supposedly it came from a youtube clip if you wanna see it.

Am I the only one who watches Top Chef? I caught the earlier episodes in one of their repeat marathons and have been addicted ever since.

Despite my love of BSG, SciFi hasn't convinced me they're capable of doing a good show. That show with Peter Krause was boring looking, and Eureka never really floated my boat (although Mrs seems to like it).

I hear they're finally going forward with a Flash Gordon show, I have really high hopes - I love that property.

Bravo Reality shows for some reason grab my attention...I think it's because of the 'skill' jobs they focus on (plus the fashion one is hysterical cause there's always one or two drama queens that make it fun)...the second season is not as good as the first...the chefs were much better, but I also think this year they worried more about some personalitieis in casting than casting the best candidates.

I had an idea the other day for a reality show, take 10-20 "novice" cooks...every week teach them something new, then have an "elimiination" challenge where they have to incorporate the new skill etc...maybe do it on the food network and have all the different hosts show up each week. Not sure what the winner gets, but after seeing all those 'amateur' cooks show up for things like the betty crocker bake off and such i bet you it'd be a success

And I love the diamond age (except for the end, but neal stehenson still has no clue how to end a book, they just stop) and think George Clooney has a handle on things in general, but still worry that Sci-Fi will screw this up something awful

From what the Mrs said, Diamond Age wasn't even all that overtly sci fi, was it? Or am I thinking of that trilogy he just finished?

I did the same thing too! Gotta love marathons. I didn't think I'd like that show, but I actually do.

The trilogy he 'just' finished (a few years ago) is probably what she's referring to...3 rather large tomes i haven't read yet, so damn long that when released in paperback form each of the 3 books was broken down into 3 or so books...it's 'historical' science fiction...real people / fake people...more ruminations on technology and cryptography (there seems to be at least character, as i understand it, who exists in the baroque cycle AND Cryptonimicon, some sort of immortal dude)

Diamond age involves nanotechnology, electronic 'paper', and a whole bunch of ther weirdness...it's definitely sci fi

Ive watched it since its inception. Bravo does a great job with their reality show/competitions, they're not as manipulated as the normal reality show.

Food Network's search for the next Food Network Star just blows, otherwise I really enjoy the network- Alton Brown is my fave.

Yeah, I didn't like the next star show either, but I wasn't thinking along the lines of that, i was thinking of some sort of 'school' for neophyte cooks, not to get a show or anything, but people who just want to know how to cook, not sure what kind of grand prize you could hook it up to, maybe a kitchen makeover from sears or kenmore or something, a years supply of groceries or whatever...

I wouldn't even know how to pitch something liek that or if it would work, but i've seen worse reality shows become hits.

Is it as good as Snow Crash?

I don't think it's as good as snow crash, i don't think ANYTHING is as good as snow crash...Snow Crash to me is genre revolutionizing works that rivals Neuromancer for it's import in the science fiction genre (of coourse, again, another book that just stopped).

I have read all his stand alone books and enjoyed them all...i have all 3 hard cover books in the baroque cycle but haven't yet had the courage to delve into them...historical stuff, even fictional historical stuff is always hard for me...i've never been able to get more than 30 pages into the difference engine and i'm a huge gibson fan, even loved the most recent more 'current' one (he has a new book he's working on according to his blog)

With all those sharp knives and flammable substances, think of all the potential kitchen accidents just waiting to happen. That would have to make for decent ratings.

For the big finale of Top Chef, I am just waiting for Sam and Ilan to actually make a dish out of Marcel or at least try to stuff him into a microwave. Oh the drama.
