Things about Baseball which could be interpreted as random

Postby BigEd76 » Sun Nov 07, 2010 14:35:30

Anyone that bought a Strasburg jersey has to buy a new one. The Nats are changing their uniforms AGAIN....

(rumor is they're switching the home one to a cursive "Nationals" similar to the road "Washington" one, and they're removing the gold)

Cursive meaning "!@#$ Nationals" to echo fan sentiment?

Long overdue IMHO. As in, they should have done that with their first uniforms. The typeface they use right now is so generic "professional sports team" font.

If I were a GM, I'd try to sign free agents before the Yankees give Jeter a zillion dollars and the market goes all out of whack.

Not a rumor, but speculation from MLBTR FA prediction post

27. A.J. Pierzynski - Marlins. They fit all of Pierzynski's preferences and are known to be in the catching market. He also mentioned the Padres, Rangers, Rays, and Red Sox as potential fits if he doesn't re-sign with the White Sox.

I think he'd actually upgrade the hateability they lost when Ross was claimed

Also

48. Kevin Gregg - Braves. I expect they'll add some kind of late-inning veteran with Billy Wagner retiring, and Gregg may be inclined to chase the save opportunities.

YES PLZ

I'd prefer them to not sign anyone and continue on the plan to blow out Venters' arm within the next year or so

More changes for the Indians (the two in the middle) as they slowly move away from Chief Wahoo

I liked the gold accents, but they need all the gold they can for their free agency quest.

Anything to move away from Chief Wahoo is a great thing.

I agree that losing Wahoo is good, but those new hats look dumb.

Yeah, the "C" is not that great. I thought it was based on an old uniform, but they've never had one just like it.

That's pretty decent, other that THE CAPTAIN though

It was a tough year for AL shortstops. Plus the MSM is still dubious of a Venezuelan dude named Elvis

So there are a fefw things here.

1. The change is to make the Unis red, white and blue to honor the nation. No other colors. Fan pressure for this.

2. They have an alternate blue hat that looks close enough to the Phils blue hat that there has been a stink about trying to attract some buyers. This assumes that most of you cannot tell a P from a W. Frankly, it is as close to the Cubs hat as the Phils. Our presence in Nats Town really has people hating the Phillies down here these days.
