The Phillies of the 1890s were really really good. Had the talent to win a pennant or two but had the misfortune of competing against Boston and Baltimore, the premiere teams of the era.

Here are MLB team slogans from the past few years (scroll down the page past NFL and NBA).

It's a long list, but here are some of the more notable/ironic/awful slogans:
"You Belong at the Game" - Toronto Blue Jays, 2010
Says the team that finished 26th in attendance (and dead last if you're talking about %)

"We Believe in Comebacks" - NY Mets, 2010
No comment. Accompanying commercial can be found in the Hatin' On The Mets Thread

"It's a Way of Life" - Chicago Cubs, 2010
What? Losing?

"It All Happens Here" - Kansas City Royals, 2010
See above comment.

""SD" Stands for San Diego" - San Diego Padres, 2010
WTF? (You know, "Why The Face?)

"Are You in the Tribe?" - Cleveland Indians, 2009
Because if you are, Linda the Quaker Lady has a message for you.

"You Belong at the K." - Kansas City Royals, 2009
Considering you finished 26th in attendance that year, you might want to be more specific about which K.

"The World of Dodgertown -- All are Welcome" - Los Angeles Dodgers, 2009
"This is Our Town" - Los Angeles Dodgers, 2009
Dudes, make up your mind

My favorite slogan, although it's not baseball is

"Multiple Slogans" – Philadelphia 76ers, 2007

I know it's not groundbreaking to say this, but watching some recent playoff recaps/highlights has really underscored how truly awful Joe Buck is. This f-face has been able to call some of the most iconic moments in baseball history and his BS understated style has blown pretty much everyone one of them. Watching the 30 for 30 on the '04 Sox now, and his calls on the game winners sound like he's announcing a split squad spring training game. You're not being impartial, Joe, you're just being a killjoy.

An 8 yard run in a Lions game gets more excitement from him

Schilling looks like a blonde Chris Berman in a suit. Such a shame I don't get MLB network in my bedroom.
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

For all the shit we give Anderson and Simpson, TBS has an excellent staff compared to, say, ESPN.

Ernie Johnson had the worst call in the history of baseball on Granderson's two run triple. Historically awful.

Didn't hear it. But Ron Darling is one of the best color guys in baseball probably. And having Ripken and Eck in the studio is freaking awesome.

TBS should have Darling and Keith call a game together without Gary. Just sort of bs their way through it. Alternate play by play, but mostly just make fun of players and talk about how awesome the Phillies are (whether we're playing or not).
