Larry LaRue of the Tacoma News Tribune reports that veteran Ken Griffey Jr. could be released this month by the Mariners.
Junior, now 40, is batting a miserable .205/.265/.234 in 77 at-bats this season with only two extra-base hits and zero home runs. He's not providing offense at the DH position and has shown a lack of interest in competing, at one point falling asleep in the M's clubhouse in the middle of a game. The fans of Safeco Field still dig him, for the most part, but it's time for a change in Seattle. Griffey is a .284/.370/.539 career hitter with 630 home runs over 21 seasons. Perhaps he will save them the trouble and simply retire.

I would come off the Platt Bridge, onto Pattison, turn left on 20th, then right on the next street, Hartranft. Every week, cops would position their cars in the middle of the road so that traffic could still get through, but you were cautioned to go slowly.
This week, the cop wouldn't let me through. He told me I couldn't park on that street. I told him I wasn't parking on the street, I was going to the stadium parking lot. He said he wouldn't let me through and that the neighbors are pissed off. He repeated himself about three times saying the neighbors are too pissed off about people parking on their street.
I backed out and continued up 20th to Packer and saw street after street blocked with cops. So just an FYI to those that normally do the same, looks like we'll be sticking to the main roads from now on.

Manuel said Contreras would've closed even with a 1 run lead. They were trying to stay away from Lidge. Didn't really get an answer why
