Ibanez vs. R = .283/.344/.547

Vs L = .287/.362/.631

Phillies lean too far to the left.

It's a shock he's still slugging that high against lefties considering he's like 0 for his last 70 against them

i know i post a lot about my dad thoughts on baseball but he is here with two friends flipping out about not hitting with RISP. i can not get through his head that for the most part it seems to be a matter of luck and that bunting someone from 2nd to 3rd is pretty useless.

If you feel like furthering that conversation (not saying you would), ask them if they think you can improve this skill from season to season. Then ask how they would do this. Then ask what players are bad at it, offering bets on their predictions.

I'm guessing your dad is also of the belief that Rose "taught the Phillies how to win" too

For those wondering why the Phils wanted the Bako, here's a scout's take on the matter (from a BP article by John Perrotto):

Phillies catcher Paul Bako: "There is a reason why this guy hangs on in the major leagues—because he is outstanding at handling pitchers. He has really helped ease Cliff Lee’s transition to the National League."

Another one of those baseball mysteries. How much effect DOES a catcher have on a pitcher?

It helps that Bako is not Latino

Two years from now when Werthless is exultant over calling the worthlessness of the third year of Ibanez's contract, this link can't be brought up enough. Because he lurves Milton Bradley.

Phils are tied for the lead in MLB in fewest balks with 1 (Moyer  ). Mets are in the lead with 10.

Phils also have the fewest wild pitches with 21. KC has 73

Juan Rivera was the guy I thought most appropriate, but then again, I thought he could be had cheaply for 1 year. He signed for 3/12.75 to stay with LAA. I did prefer Bradley over Ibanez, but let's be real here, the Phils' clubhouse has magical healing powers that would have resulted in Bradley doing awesomely had he signed here.

If Bradley signed here he'd have an 1.100 OPS and would be counseling Michael Vick

Ichiro:

“Chicks who dig home runs aren’t the ones who appeal to me…I think there’s sexiness in infield hits because they require technique. I’d rather impress the chicks with my technique than with my brute strength. Then, every now and then, just to show I can do that, too, I might flirt a little by hitting one out.”

Doesn't Big Pelf have something like 5 balks himself this year?
