*Just for a crazy comparison to put this into perspective. In 2004 when Barry Bonds walked 232 times, he saw 3.93 P/PA.

Swisher and Werth would wear out every starting pitcher.

Werth wasn't qualified, but he also saw 4.51 P/PA.

Florida sure is weeding out the guys that make any money whatsoever. Should be weird in a few years when Hanley is making 15M and the next closest in payroll is like 500K

Gregg had a big drop in K/9 and an increase in BB/9 last season. He's 30 and could very well be on the decline. He was never great to begin with although he certainly hasn't been bad.

In return the Fish get a 22 year old flame thrower who gets lots of Ks but hasn't learned to harness his stuff quite yet. At the age of 21, he pitched 30 really good innings in AA last season and 50 not so great innings in A +. He's supposed to be a large (maybe too large) hard throwing guy who compares to Lee Smith kinda.

The Fish got some good years out of Gregg and now have another young pitching prospect who may develop into something pretty good. Not a bad return for Chris Resop.

Then sign ManRam for $25/yr for 3-4 years... go ahead and give the AL to the Yankees at that point.

Wait,
this bit of anonymously sourced info
The newspaper quotes “one Yankee executive” as saying that “we have to separate ourselves” and notes that “unless Sabathia really will reject the largest pitching package ever, the Yankees have the inside track.” If the Yankees fail to land Sabathia the newspaper reports that Derek Lowe and A.J. Burnett are “their next choices.”

does not equal this
The New York Post speculates that the Yankees will offer CC Sabathia a six-year, $150 million contract.

So yeah, it's just a New York Post guy talking shit.

I don't think there's any doubt that the Yankees are going to offer CC a huge deal. If it's 6/150, who knows, but he's going to be getting his checks signed by Steinbrenner next year unless he's really willing to take millions less to go somewhere else.

With CC having that kind of grocery monies at hand, what's the over/under by year 4?

Forget your wet dreams about Swisher. He's a Yankee now.

Jeff Marquez is involved in the deal going to Chitown.
