General manager Jim Hendry said Wood was deserving of a three- or four-year deal and the Cubs are not prepared to offer him one.

I like Moyer alot but this is silly. He gets a 1 year deal or an arb offer. I can't imagine there is another team in baseball that would give him 2 years, give up a draft pick and such team be one that he would consider pitching for.

I can't imagine there aren't some teams out there that would offer at least a 2 year contract to him. And by the way he's said he'd prefer to play for the Phils, but he will play on another team if not them. He's not going to retire.

No one will give up their first round pick, and give Moyer 2 years. No one.
So we'll bid against no one but Moyer and his agent, and give him 2 years. He was fan-$#@!-tastic this year, but he won't be this year, and he'll be the 1500th-best option for 2010. I'd rather have James Moyer pitching in 2010.

Since that time Moyer is 30-19 4.37.
Yeah, he's old. But he's a freak and I wouldn't bet against him (no disrespect to James).
