Adam Dunn is gonna be the bargain of the winter.

Even though hes LH, he'd be a good replacement for Burrell. Same defensively, Dunn doesn't have huge problems with LHP (.773 in 2008, .833 for career)

Side note, KLaw ranked Jeremy Affeldt ahead of K-Rod on his free agent tracker. That makes me laugh.

Has Dunn's name been linked to any team? I haven't heard much about him this offseason

Adam Dunn-OF- Diamondbacks Nov. 3 - 11:35 am et

MLB.com reports that the Nationals "have targeted" free agent Adam Dunn.
Washington is also said to be interested in sluggers like Prince Fielder, Matt Holliday and Mark Teixeira, but Dunn is by far the most realistic option given that Nationals general manager Jim Bowden drafted him back when he was with the Reds.

Why don't the Nats add Wright, Utley, and Lincecum this offseason too?

They would still finish last in the division.

1. Dempster is 'even odds' to stay in Chicago. Surprisingly few in on him

2. Anaheim put forth a serious offer as Boras put it and will be hard to beat (see Manny specific thread for details)

3. Mark Prior is back again trying to pilfer another million dollars from some sucker team. Boston has feelers out

Rumor has it that Manny will hold out and wait for a huge contract like Kyle Lohse and end up playing for the Kansas City Royals with a 14mil/2yr deal.

Though I think both could very easily sign somewhere, it'll be kind of strange if Pedro and Maddux's careers are over.

A team that finishes with a top 15 pick in the draft wouldn't have to give up anything to sign Moyer or did that change? For example we didn't get the Giants' first round pick for Rowand last year. I know we were awarded a sandwich round pick but I don't remember the Giants giving us anything (unless maybe it was a 2nd or 3rd rounder).

I can see Moyer going home to Seattle throwing his batting practice fastball and changeup for the next 10-15 years. I mean if Ramon Henderson can do it, why can't Jaime?

From Nick Swisher's Wikipedia page:

Swisher was very close to his paternal grandmother Betty Lorraine Swisher, who raised him after his parents' divorce and died from brain cancer in 2005; he famously has her initials tattooed on his chest. He points at the sky after every hit to acknowledge her and has her initials inked on the knob of his bats and usually on his batting gloves or shoes. To honor her further, he decided to grow his hair and donate it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, a program that creates free wigs for cancer patients. On May 19th, 2007, he cut his hair with assistance from his father before Oakland's game. He intimated in March 2008 that he may again be growing out his hair for the Beautiful Lengths program.

I wonder if the Yankees would hedge on their "clean-cut" policy in order to facilitate, you know, wigs for chemo patients.

MLBTR:
Mets Join Yanks In Sabathia Chase?
By Tim Dierkes [November 14 at 8:56am CST]
Bill Madden, Anthony McCarron, and Adam Rubin of the New York Daily News say the Mets will be in the mix for C.C. Sabathia:

Omar Minaya was dicussing a trade for a pitcher with a GM but said he would first have to see how Sabathia's free agency was progressing, a baseball executive said. A Mets official subsequently wouldn't deny interest in Sabathia.
