Our .583 win pct in September is higher than our (and the Phillies) SEASON win pct of .557 (or .553).

Since the morning of September 1, we've lost exactly one-half of a game to the Phillies... and not because we lost one more. Because they played one more and won.

$#@! this collapse $#@!. We're NOT collapsing. We lost two games in a row. Something we did a week ago before a three-game win streak.

We're 4-3 in our last seven, 15-9 in our last 24, 25-16 since the start of August, and 32-22 since the All Star Break.

$#@! the media. $#@! Bob Klapisch and $#@! ESPN.

adorable

The Mets are 7-5 in September this year. After 12 games in September last year, they were 9-3.

If anything, the Mets won't collapse this year simply because it wouldn't make sense to call it that. Their lead has never been that big.

Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

It's really too bad the Phillies don't have the luxury of being able to start Fernando Tatis every day and march out Luis Ayala to close out all their wins.

Um - that's a smart play.

If the runner is stupid enough to not run out a popup, embarass him and turn 2.

I hate to say this, but Mets fans do have a point. The media are like captive hyenas waiting to be fed with the whole "collapse" story line. They seem to take a perverse pleasure in it. The Mets were only ever up 3.5 games this time, with plenty of baseball left to play, and the season isn't over yet. It's not, nor can it be, a "collapse" in the strictest sense. But don't tell the media that.

I'd feel sorry for them. If they weren't the Mets.

Hey everyone remember how the Phillies were in first place for the vast majority of the season and the Mets actually came on strong in September to make it close?

4 games up in the loss column with 17 to play? I'm going with the media on this one.
