We're getting in their heads. I can feel it. It's going to happen all over again. It's September. You know it.

I can't figure out which would be better--the Mets getting completely shut out of the playoffs, perhaps in some heartbreaking fashion like with a 9th inning rally that falls short, or having the Phillies sweep their asses in a playoff game?

both seem awesome, TV. i'm maybe leaning toward the second one, because it would doubly mean that the phils were going to the World Series since two playoff teams that are from the same division can't meet up until the championship series

Just watched several youtubes of the last out of the regular season last year. It still brings me chills.

personally i see the best case scenario as phillies winning the division, mets winning the wild card, with cubs and dodgers being the other teams in there. in that case, we'd play the dodgers first instead of the cubs or brewers. the cubs and brewers have excellent 1-2 punches that could be difficult in the playoffs. i think we'd have a starting pitching advantage if we played the dodgers. that way, we'd only have to face a team like the mets or cubs with an elite ace in the nlcs and not in the divisional series. i like us against the dodgers in a short series. five games: hamels-billingsley, myers-kershaw, moyer-lowe, blanton-maddux, hamels-billingsley, or something that looks like that. that seems a bit more doable.

Both Lowe and Manny are playoff studs. I'd rather play the cursed Cubs than ther Dodgers. I'd actually rather make the playoffs first.

Without attributing these quotes to someone it could be easy to say they were from Willie Randolph September 2007.

Wow. I've had this argument (if that's the word for it) with one of my good friends who's a huge Mets (and Giants) fan since we were in college. We'd look at each other and basically yell, "YOU ARE NOT A CAUSAL FACTOR!"

I want to e-mail this to him. But I'm afraid that by doing so, I'll anti-jinx the Mets...

JPSchmack wrote:"Another September Collapse" my ass.

Our .583 win pct in September is higher than our (and the Phillies) SEASON win pct of .557 (or .553).

Since the morning of September 1, we've lost exactly one-half of a game to the Phillies... and not because we lost one more. Because they played one more and won.

Fuck this collapse shit. We're NOT collapsing. We lost two games in a row. Something we did a week ago before a three-game win streak.

We're 4-3 in our last seven, 15-9 in our last 24, 25-16 since the start of August, and 32-22 since the All Star Break.

Fuck the media. Fuck Bob Klapisch and Fuck ESPN.

the same dude who wrote that "jimmy rollins best team" article wrote a really similar article on the morning of september 7th saying how the mets couldn't possibly collapse due to johan santana.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/09072008/sp ... 127944.htm

we've picked up 1.5 games since then.
