I wish Sarge were announcing.

So Altidore isn't playing then? It's taken me 18 minutes to come to this realization.

We were alright I guess. We won anyhow, and that's what actually counts. Our back four is terrifying. Edu got away with a couple of fouls in the box. He looked good for a lot of the time, but it's an unfamiliar position for him and it showed. The goal was nice. Altidore looked dangerous when he came on. Adu was frustrating, and is sort of a ball hog. Always seems he prefers to try and beat his man rather than pass, and he failed to beat his man an awful lot today. I guess the moral of the story is we aren't very good, or at least weren't today.

The worst part of the whole thing were the announcers. Holy hell is Marcelo Balboa terrible. Every decision the ref made was the correct one, until he decided against giving a penalty for Edu's second questionable foul in the box. Every sub the coaches made was the right one. Every statement was prefaced with "As a defender..." Almost made one long for Tommy Smyth.

Don't the Olympics start tomorrow? Or is it already tomorrow in China? The Olympics are in China right?
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

Women's soccer started yesterday. Men's soccer started today. I think some other prelim stuff might get going as well. Opening ceremonies are on TV tomorrow tape delayed at like 7:30 I think.

Messi is absolutely disgusting. Also the other game in our group ended in a draw.

That's probably a bad thing right? If we assume both of those teams are better than us. It would have been better if the best of those two teams had taken all 3 points. Now we probably can't get by with two draws unless Japan gets some sort of result.

Why are you assuming Nigeria is better than us?

I can't remember what previous Olympic tournaments have been like I feel like quality will be pretty fluid in these games. Our U-23 team have been worldbeaters at times and also lost to some real scrubs.

I think you have to like where we're at. I mean I can't imagine the Dutch or Nigerian defenses are all that, and neither could break the other down. Plus the Dutch had a guy sent off, so that's one man they'll be without for our match Sunday.

I don't know whether they were just trying to set a precedent or whatever, but they ended up letting him play after all that. He was phenomenal today.

I'm just going by the way most commentators have rated our chances. I have no particular insight into the quality of Nigeria's U-23. It's a good point though about the fluidity of quality for kids though.
